precipitated withdrawal with Subutex

I am an opiate addict.  i was given Subutex by the doctor and told to take half of an 8 mg first wait an  an hour then take the second half.  that would be in the morning.  Well!, Itook the first half and got so much worse.  Mind you, It had been 15 hours since I had any opiates.  I got so I'll. I had the leg thing. The feeling that you have to stretch them every 10 seconds. This went on for 5 hours. I finally said uncle and picked up.  I want to be on Subutex but am terrified to try again.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i thought you had to be 3 days clean and in full withdrawal BEFORE starting sub's???
maybe that is your problem?  not to mention you are on an extremely high dose.  seems you have a dr that does not know enough about it to even prescribe it?

Yes inform your doctor. There is a scale c.o.w. that should be used to indicate when to induce. Everyone's induction is different.
Most times you will induce at the doctors office.
A doctor that sends you off with the script and tells you to induce on your own I would be leary of.

How long have you been using?
What opiate and how much?

Not sure what you are on or how much but I have heard horrible stories about subtext.  Also, how long were you on opiates?  The biggest problem with us addicts is that we want instant gratification and unfortunately that does not happen in a state of withdrawl.

I am not a fan of trading line DRUG for another as you are never truly clean.  Taming subtext is a trade and you than have to withdrawl off of that drug.  If you are serious about being sober, ask your doctor if he can prescribe a low dose of benzodiazepines in the short term.  Explain your discomfort and why you want to be clean.  I have never met a doctor who was not willing to help provide he has been told the whole truth.  Complete and brutal honesty.

When he helps you, help yourself.  Ask only for a week's worth of PILLS at a time or even a day.  If you keep going back to the doctor, weekly or daily, it will give you a reason to get up, get showered, get dressed and keep your appointment.  If you are a no show you will lose the Doctors trust.

You can do this but you need to give it some time and get over the hump.  I jumped that hump-kicked those drugs in the butt and I am now 6 years clean and out of that living nightmare.  Today I live life on the other side.  IT IS AWESOME!

Hi, first of all, tell your doctor about that! Also, how much and what opiates are you on? Lots and lots of folks do this w/o subutex. That is not your only option!
