question about suboxone

Is it normal to feel tired from the suboxone?  When I started taking this almost a week ago I noticed that I got a severe headache and very jittery.  I asked the doctor about it and she said that it was "normal" and it would go away, but of course it has not.  I keep taking lots of Advil which helps a little but then it comes back full force.  I have read that taking too much suboxone gives you a headache, I am on 16mgs daily but I am going to take 12mg today and then just 4mg tomorrow because I am going off of it I don't want to be on this for long.  I want to be off of it by Friday, that will be 8 days altogether.  I hope it works,  I read that the short life of it is 37 hours, what about the rest?  I am hoping that since I was only on it for a week that it won't be difficult.

look what the experience with sub is on here !!!

need we say anything more about replacement opioids?(sub and methadone)

sounds like big pharm and the money grubbing sub system is got people confused about what they are taking. look at some of the comments here........this gets me hot ! having people still take THEIR  EXPENSIVE opioid!!

why are they starting people out on such high doses, sure its fine to help IV users shake heroin, but they need to get people off this stuff ASAP

sub=replacement synthetic narcotic opioid, that is fact !!

You are probably thinking of the Narcane - -  thats the antagonist naltrexone that is included to make shooting the stuff less appealing. There is no norco in sub........

I have been on 24mgs 3 months and just recently started tapaering myself down 10 mgs or less. i have headaches and by 430 in the morn with the skin crawls and feel like ****. so somebody  b honest and tell me how bad these withdrawls r gonna b. i used to b on methadone 100mgs a day and got on the sub to quit it. and to b totally honest after the things i heard i am terrified to get off the sub and go through the withdrawls again. so what the **** do i do guys?! i thought this was the whole reason they came out with the sub so people could "detox safely".

i hate to chime in with bad news, but subs are far worse to get off than pills. And I was a heavy duty pillhead, doing oxy 40's. usually 4 or 5 a day.  When I first found subs i thought it was great! no withdrawals. but then i began reading online about how bad they are because of the long half life and when i did try and go off i had weaned to only doing a quarter a day of the 2 mg pills. i dont get why drs are giving people the 8 mg pills and telling them to do so many per day, crazy. these little pills are very strong, almost equal to heroin. they also effect the emotional part of the brain and cause horrid depression when you try and quit them. Thats why the cravings go down on them, you feel deeply satisfied with life in general. No need to crave pills. I would also go back and forth, when i had pills i did em, never worried about WD as i had subs to fall back on. But then I tried to quit, and i had to go back on pills for awhile while i waited for the subs to leave my body and am now quitting my pills. it still rots, but not like those stinking orange things.

Please keep posting regarding your experience after suboxone.  I just started on it yesterday (10mg) and I've lowered already to 6mg today.  I am coming off a 3 year Norco 10/325 habit and doing the suboxone on my own.
I thank God for this drug (so far) because I have had no W/D and my life has been normal and I feel so motivated to quit, but I am scared of W/D from suboxone.  Let us know how you feel and if you feel symptoms, when do they start, what are they, etc.

I plan to taper to 4mg tomorrow, then 2, then 2, then OFF. (5 days total)...what does anyone think of this? Should I be in the clear?

I didn't mean anything personal by what I said, the truth is I was curious to know how people went from taking suboxone to taking pain pills.  I thought it couldn't be done from all the posts and research I read.  Instead of just being honest and just asking that I guess I came of in the wrong way.  I apologize, I really didn't mean anything by it.  I l am going to stop with the sub because I have read so many horror stories about getting addicted and the withdrawal being twice as hard to go through off of suboxone as  opposed to pain pills.  I got to be honest, I don't know what I  will do if I have really  bad withdrawal from sub just from being on it for a week. l hope that doesn't happen,  I could see myself as taking a vicodin to help ease that but I don't want to and I don't want to get sick.. You never really know which facts are true because everyone says different things about that.  Again, I apologize.  Take care.

Irish - agree with Willy 100%.  If your leg pains, etc are related at all to the sub I would think its due to the taper..??? Im not sure.. I started out on a pretty high dose and tried -sometimes did not succeed- but tried to taper each month.. Some months were easy others did cause withdrawal for about the first week of the lower dosage... everyone is different.. unfortunately there is no easy way out but to keep going forward!  Taper down, and be done with it as quick as you can.  Do not jump off suboxone at even 2 mg.. taper down to a sliver of a pill and the jump.. from what I understand that is the easiest method..also, I have heard that when your at the sliver or 'crumb' per day, maybe take it every other day, etc.. I just re read your post -- If you just went from 12mg to 4mg well that is why you are having some withdrawal.. tomorrow go to 2mg, the next day maybe 1mg then start slicing shavings off for a few days.. that's my suggestion.. i would not recommend jumping from 4mgs.. taper fast and you can be off within a week.. and hopefully since it will only be abotu 2 weeks on for you - you wont have too bad withdrawal.. Most important is you are getting clean!! Congrats to you -- its a tough battle - but you can win it... here to help if you need me--I am 76 days post sub!

Please get off Sub as soon as possible, I was addicted to norco 325/10 for five years. ( 20 a day )Used Sub as a fill in drug when I couldn't get my DOC. Finally decided to quit, went on Sub for 3 months then went CT, the WDS were hell, I couldn't get off it, 3rd or 4th night without Sub was the Devil and I had tapered to 1mg a day. Went back on Norco to get off Sub, then tapered Norco and went CT. Been clean since March 7th.. Feel great this side of Life is Awesome! I guess my point is get clean, and be very careful with any long term Sub use, it doesn't work (long term ). Get your Life back! Good Luck!

I don't understand it I am taking the suboxone so why would I be having withdrawal symptoms if I am on it?  I am  taking less dosage maybe that's why, that's scary if I feel like that while only being on them for 1 week, all the more reason to get the hell off of them.

irish - not while i was on them no.  hip, knee, and ankle joint pain came with withdrawal, but I didnt have any 'pain' side effects from subs other than the headaches

I take 16mg a day, but the last couple of days I only took 12 and today I took 4mg and that's it I am not going to take anymore.  Whatever happens, happens I mean I will have to deal with whatever withdrawal I have.  As for you, how in the world did you take suboxone for a couple of days and then go back on pills.  I thought it wasn't supposed to work like it would make you sick or something because the sub is still in your system.  Sorry to say this but that seems dumb, no offense.  I also get severe headaches and the jitters.  I noticed when I take the sub then my headaches get real bad and in the morning when I haven't taken them I don't have one.  I feel pretty good in the morning which is why I think I can handle whatever happens when I stop the sub because it will feel great just to get rid of the migraines.  One more thing I noticed is that from my waist down hurts all the time real bad, like my hip bones, leg bones, and butt area.  I don't understand this but my husband tried to rub them but it hurt  worse.  Thank you for your post.

Hi Irish ----  I personally think the doctor may have you on too high a dose.  I agree with you cutting down drastically---- Yes, you may experience some real W/D symptoms but in time they will pass and you won't become addicted to this horrible drug - It is pure he!! to come off of and the longer you take it the worse the W/D will be.  I was like you -- I wanted to quit ALL Opiates - not just my DOC -- My only problem is I waited 21 days to lay down the Sub.  Hey - Irish --- All the best to you.  Please keep posting your experience as you do this.

Hi there.  Yes I think its normal to be tired and have a headache on suboxone.  At least for me it was.  We are all different though.  While on it I actually nodded off at times and many times would have to close my eyes for a 5 min nap to keep from nodding off. The headaches are normal too.  I got one every day I was on subs.. Sometimes they were really bad other times just dull. What worked the best for me for the sub headache was 2 advil and 1 tylenol sinus combo.  The headaches definitely got less severe as my dosage was lowered. Lots of people have had success using a short term sub treatment - I have read of people who had no withdrawal at all after using it for a short detox.  Hopefully you will have the outcome.  I wish you nothing but the best.  Take care.
