Well I'm on day 3 again.  And the thing is is that I only take one 30 mg oxycodone a day. Its just that I can't seem to stop. When I don't have them I feel like I can't function.
I'm still trying to get into rehab. I have to call every day.

Try a counseling group for now just to get you some insight. Like NA. It will help tremendously and you will see that you are not alone. I know here in Texas if you go into an emergency room and your in acute withdrawals they will hold you for 3 days and put you into a rehab. Thats what I was going to do but I didnt want to leave my kids. They were confused enough and I didnt want to make it worse. Theyre 10, 7, 5, 2 and 8 months. So they wouldnt have understood. Are you still using?

I am trying to get in somewhere.  When u don't have insurance or are not on probation or if ur not an iv user you are kind of low priority.

Hi Dede. It can be a good thing but like it was mentioned it is no magic wand and you have to really do alot of work when you get out. It however can be the first candle on the cake. You learn to FOCUS on YOU and only YOU.
I would call around and see what Meds they use to help or if they just c/t you. What I know is that most will use the clonidine the BP med to help. You will go to meetings, process groups and talk to a counselor, and maybe a therapist once a week. This will happen from sun up to sun down. You will be in a detox place at first and then moved to a house. NOW there are many places that things are different in many ways. Ask some questions and lots of them.
My experience was that I went to get off my Methdone becasue I tried for 10 years after I was on the hydo/oxys that I went up to having the Methadone prescribed..My Dr was trying to taper me and I did get down to 30 mg but that is when I started to add the illegal Adderall to them and was snorting. I always got a Benzo that I would take at night to sleep.
So I get down there and the Dr there could not take me because of the mg I was on with my Dones..I had to travel far to another Dr and he wanted me to do the Subs..Well I could of done this at home. I tried them for 4 days and took over them and did them SO wrong that it just made me even sicker. The Staff should of told me NO that this was the Dr orders or go and talk to the Dr..PLUS this Dr did not even consider my Benzo use. That one was just cut out and I should of been tapered with something lesser..(Benzo) The adderral was NOT even considered and it was Bad to w/d from. Now most of this was the communication from the Dr. So I was in the detox house for 10 days and I was OK, it was when I moved in with 5 other girls is when it kicked in Anxiety on the moon and I did not sleep the whole time I was there except maybe after 22 day or so when I finally got the cloindine and that was like 2 hours at the most. I could only take that at night..NOW the good news is that I did learn A LOT..This is what got me started on learning ALL I can about the Map of the Brain and what drugs hit what part of the Brain and the chart that shows what is addicting. I did all of this when I got home and I am still learning.
So the place was good and I did Learn some things and I also learned to Focus on me only..Now that one was hard for me since I care for others sometimes more then me..I had done a big change on this one in my Recovery.
The Bad was they did not have a clue how a Methadone w/d was because they did not take people on Methadone until I called..I was paying cash & got sponsored so this is another reason why I stayed and did not want to blow it when I got out..Also the Benzo for anyone there they just stopped it..The took the ones that were alcoholics and gave them ativan (benzo) so they should of done it for the ones that were using the Benzo too..I think it was just a communication issue with them and the Drs.
My conclusion is that I did get my first candle lit and I continue to search a lot about this Addition in a more Logical Scientific way and continued going to both AA/NA even if I had not had a drink in about 9 years. I just switch addictions. BUT I did not like the communication between me to them and to the Dr. BUT I was very stubborn too..I did not pay good money to go on other Drugs like Subs, and I could not take the Trazadone or the other sleeping meds. The clonidine worked OK after I had so many days in and I could only take it at night. They also prescribed every body Buspar which is a light non-addicting anxiety pill..That one took a almost 3 months to clam me down..It is like taking a sugar pill but it does work later on down the road.
The people our wonderful and most are Addicts in Recovery themselves. It is a great place to go to get you started on your way.
I am not sure what you have been using but if it is just one drug and a opiate like hydos or so you will be just fine in no time with that one..Those meds work great for those kind of drugs.
I already had 3 months in when I joined on here and something deep down tells me I could of did this from the Support on here BUT I would not have learned all I did from there either that started me on this learning journey as well. This info helped me be able to share out here to others.
If you go you will want to take comfortable clothes..I went in the summer and was right on a lake so we got to go out on the canoes & boat sometimes if the counselor wanted to take a break and go down to the water..The more time you have in there you have more freedom to go to the Gym, Movies and such. Like I said every place could be different so I sure would ask them questions..No items with alcohol in them either. I left my jewelry at home..It is not a fashion show there so try to be as comfortable as you can and take a light jacket if you go in the summer and lots of sweat pants or comfortable jeans.
I wish you the best and feel free to PM me if you want to no more..BUT it does depend on what place you are going too.
OH!! Take all the Vit/Min that we suggest on here. You can also put some money on a money card..They took all of this from us and they had someone who would do your shopping once a week. For the special things you want, other wise the food comes with the packet.
Bless You and I sure do pray you get a lot out of it..lol

I'm trying,  well actually begging to get in one now. It just takes time. I'm on a waiting list. Since I have no insurance it may take a few weeks.

Happy to see you back, Dede!!!

I went to rehab once many years ago.....I went voluntarily....actually begged them to let me come for a 30 day program.  It changed my life~

I was scared when I went.....and I was scared to come home.

It is one of the best ways in the world to "shut off" all that the world throws at you and focus on yourself and getting well.  Just being away from all of life's daily demands, learning about addiction, group counseling, one-on-one counseling, good food, new friends.......I don't have ANYTHING negative to say about my experience....I even stayed a little past the 30 days just cause I needed it.

Let us know how you are......and if we can help in any way.  I'm so glad to see you doing this......it will bless you.
Warm hugs,
Connie

Needing to go and WANTING to go are two different things...do you want to get clean and stay clean? Having a plan for after rehab is crucial to you staying clean. I was taking up to 10-15  10/325 Norco a day. Then I found heroin. Bad choice. My last using day of anything was feb 14th. And I was using pills for 4 yrs and heroin for 2yrs. I have 73 days clean and I didn't go to rehab. BUT I did change anything and everything that made me want to use. I see a drug counselor 3 times a week and that works for me. I want to stay clean. My husband and I have 5 kids and im only 26.
You have to be ready and willing to put in the work or else no rehab in the world is gonna be able to help you. Im all for it and yes they do work if your willing and ready to open your mind and heart to sobriety. You have to be ready. Are you ready?
