My son is 19 and he attempted suicide last night.  He admitted being addicted to roxies.  He is not giving us the whole story.  He just got his own apartment and a new job where he is making decent money for his age.  He has spent all of his money on drugs.  He will be moving back in with us.

My husband and I were in the mortgage business and we lost everything.  My insurance will not cover anything for my child since he is not a full time student.  We can not afford the help he needs.  His insurance will not kick in for about 45 days.

Does anyone know of a place that will help my son for free or low cost.  I really do not know where to go.

If anyone has any information.  Please share.

Check out Teen Challenge. It can be a great help in gathering information. I have an 18 year old son with the exact same addiction. it is a christian based recovery program. teen Challenge is all over the country!

"""He got locked up because we would not give him the car keys, and he started destroying the house,""""

THIS IS SO ME AT 17!!!!!

i wish my mom was on medhelp, i put her through helll, i am so sorry you are having to deal with this, my family has been at this place
i remember puliing out of our driveway in my dads new car, my dad tried to stop me and i ran him over because i was tring to get more pills, i am 34 now but i can recall that incident like it was yesterday

the problem with teen na meetings is that they really do not have enough people that have large amounts of clean time, therefore its like peer coucling and at that age, it may do more harm than good
everyother friday night i speak to a group of adolecents, do you have a charter behavioral health in your area? do you have insurance?

when i went to rehab at 17 it cost my parents 60,000 and i realsped a year later, so i suggest you find an affordable tx center because he may need tx more than one time, i am not going to say how many times i have gone to rehab, i will say that i have activly been seeking help for years, and in august i will have 5 yrs clean, addiction is so hard to treat, return to use is the biggest problem for us

here is a book that helps parents of teen addicts, http://www.hazelden.org/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?item=3430

hopefully when he goes to court for this, the judge will require him to goto "drug court" and the system will help him with tx options, i also wanted to let you know that there are several young people in na, in my area atleast, more so than aa, for teens its easier to get pills than it is alcohol, we have one young man who started going in the 10th grade and is now very active in the program, i do suggest you go in the meeting with your child, some meetings are safer than others, when it comes to younger addicts
i attended my first meeting as a teen,

He maybe in withrdrawels from the pills while he is in jail. You should look into that and find out how they treat or treated it. If they say he was in BAD withdrawels he was using alot a day for awhile. Find out about the equilivalnt to the AA for teens, but your looking for NA for teens, narcotics anonomys.
Find out what friends he was getting them from and do everything you can to keep that person or people out of his life.
You'll know more how he is once he gets out and has been clean for that time. The key is, not letting him go back to it, some how, someway. I have a teenage son, I understand what your going through with the temper's.
Wishing you and your family all the best.
