scared stupid

Question

i have been addicted to Lortabs for about a year, I have been clean for 3 months now but I decided to clean up to late. I forged a script in April and now I have court in August. this is my first offence and I have a clean record. I am so scared, does any one know what kind of time I am looking to serve?

Like cocobeanlisa, I am in Florida and I was going to suggest the same thing. Whatever state you are in, find a rehab program before you go to court, and find an NA or AA meeting to go to.  If you go to NA or AA and ask if anyone can tell you what to expect, you'll find a lot of good advice.  If you don't have anyone else to go to court with, an NA or AA member will probably go with you, if you ask.  I wonder if you got in this situation in part because you don't like to ask for help?  I just got that impression....If so, you've got to ask for help, from a lawyer (there are a lot in my AA group), from rehab counselors, and from your peers in NA/AA.  And get started right away.........I'll pray for the best outcome you can possibly get....whatever it is, make it work FOR you. Refuse to let it work against you.  Congrats on 3 months....doesn't it feel wonderful??????????

before you do anything you will regret, please think about the fact that you have kids...Thats somethng I didnt do..and now i am so ashamed of my self for it. its not worth it..

i am so sorry to hear that .. I have kids too and everything seemed easier when I was taking lortabs. When i was working i was fine, I never did any kind of drugs. i drank every so often but that was it. I decided to be a stay at home mom too.Then I got this hernia and ear infection which started me on the path..my doctor prescribed me 100's of them over a 5 month period for the pain. Then one day she cut me off and decided to give only 12  I did not steal script pads i recieved a script from my doctor for 12 lortabs, then i decides to add a zero to make it 120.. it worked the first 2 times i did it, but the 3rd time is always a charm, I got caught the 3rd time. I am only being charged for the 1 because noone knows about the first 2.  i would strongly reccomend treatment, because although thiis me seem to you as a way to with the struggles of being at home with kids now, this can start out as a whirl wind of euphoria but end in a 3rd degree felony, if you know what i mean. good luck with everything.. keep me posted on how you are doing..

Just curious, did you steal a script pad or what? The reason I ask is because I worked for a MD and while I was there, I would call in scripts in my name. When a drug store called him about it, he confronted me and we decided together that I would seek treatment. He didn't file any kind of charges and I got clean and quit working for him. It was just too much to be an addict working for a physician. I stayed clean for years and after I had my second child and decided to be a stay at home mom and that is when I became hooked again.

alot of that stuff is up to the judge and that can be the luck of the draw...do u have kids at home?...the fact that u cleaned up and have proof of rehab is gonna help u tremendously...if u have kids at home it may help too as no judge wants to take a mommy away....i have a feeling u will get a penalty/fine/check in/probation etc...but no jail time...just a feeling...keep us posted

I don't know anything about the type of sentence they will give you, but I think it is great that you have gone through treatment and are still working on it.  Good luck on the court date

Thank you all for caring.... I live in Utah and I have been going to treatment about 3 months now, i started 3weeks after I forged the script..... My husband ttook 3 weeks off of work to help me with the withdrawls, If it wasnt for him I dont think I would have been able to do it.. The withdrawls were bad. I do have a lawyer, we had to clean out our saving to pay him.. $ 5000.00.. I went in to an outpatient program after 3 weeks

Did you go threw I rehab program ? Its hard to tell as everyone has said it depends on the state it good its your first offance I hope you went into rehab I hear that can make a big diffrance....

If money is an issue then start going to na meetings NOW,,make yourself a sign sheet including each days date,time and name of meeting and have the chairperson sign it every time. When you go to court you can make a plea ,hire a lawyer or have a pd appointed.gl

Hey I am so sorry to hear about court.  I do not want to
give advice that I do not have.

I do not know what state you are in.  In the state of florida the courts are
really hard on Rx crimes.  I would suggest that you get a lawyer, even
if you have to borrow the money.  Also I know that in Florida the
courts look at if A person has done drug or alcohol treatment.  Even though
you have 3 months clean you might want to get into a program to show the court
that you are serious about recovery.  The best thing I can say is get a lawyer.

It depends on what state you live in. Generally forging scripts is pretty serious but you have no record so that should help you.  I live in MA and was in jail with a girl in your situation, she ended up doing 90 days in jail and 5 years on probation.  But like I said, it depends on where you live.  Have the courts assigned you a lawyer yet?
