scared

I took 32 vicodin es, 750/7.5 on Wednesday,  about 8 at a time.  For some reason the fact that that's a potentially deadly dose of acetaminophen didnt occur to me until the next morning.  It's now Friday afternoon, almost 48 hours since and I've had no more and no symptoms of overdose but I'm worried about what I may have done to my liver.  Has anyone on here taken amounts similar to that?

Tramadol is an opioid analgesic.  Its called a "narcotic like"  pain reliever.  I can be additive although apparently a person has to be taking it for a longer time than opiates like vicodin before they become addicted.  There are plenty of posts that I've seen on here from folks who are trying to quit using tramadol.

You're absolutely right of course.  Nobody takes fricking 33 vicodin es in one day that doesn't have a bit of a problem with opiates.  It's been time to quit for good for a while.  I've been taking them on and off for several years.

Wake up calls & being scared are a good thing, and don't come around very often so I would totally take advantage of yours this time.  Your body & liver do have the ability to heal & repair itself If you give it time and healthy support.  However, I really would throw the rest of those pills out and cut off your connection to get more.  As scary as this wake call was, after a few days, the addict part of your mind might conveniently 'forget' and tell u all sorts of lies why it's ok to finish up the ones you have at your house.  I know mine would.  And then taking 32 pills might even start to sound ok, since you were ok when you did it the last time. I had alot of scary moments before where I took too much at one time and I started to feel like I couldn't breath. I had to sit in a bathtub and drink lots of milk just to help calm it down because I wasn't going to go to an ER either.  In those moments I would swear to myself and to God that I would never do that again but after a few days later, I would do it again.  It's nuts. Addiction isn't logical at all.  Good Luck!!!!  :)

Yes, you should throw them out. If you're popping that many vics, you've got yourself a problem. Do you think you're an addict? If so, then things will eventually get worse, and worse, and you get the idea. It took many years for addiction to catch up with me. I wish I would have figured it out a long time ago, but looking back, I was having too much fun to stop using. It's only when it turns on us that we become willing to stop using. You decide where your bottom is. You can stop digging any time you want. If you're not an addict and you can control and enjoy drugs, then my hat is off to you, but give your liver  a break and ease up on the vics.

Hey again,

Well I called the poison control folks and they said to go straight to the emergency room immediately.  But of course I'm not gonna.  It's been over 48 hours and I feel fine.  I've been looking around on here and I've seen a few people who took the amount I took.  A couple of them took more and did so on a regular basis.  I just took that much the one day.

I will say that this is a major wake up call.  I haven't been this scared in a long time.  I've been taking vics for a week or two then stopping for a few weeks for several years now and I'm through.  I haven't had one since Wednesday night even though I have some here.  I should really just go throw them out.

Hey again,

I definitely won't take them again.  I don't know what the heck would cause me to just ignore the amount of acetaminophen that's in there.  Well I guess I kinda know.  It's the addiction tricking me into not thinking rationally.  I'll never touch those type of things again though.  This has been a serious wake up call.  Could barely sleep last night and I have no desire for another pill at all.

It's a good sign that it has already been 48 hours and you are not showing any symptoms of acetamionphen poisoning.  If I were you, I would just call the poison control hotline and ask them.  You can stay annoymous if you want, or say you are calling for a friend.  Please don't do that again!!!

Hey thanks for responding.  It's the acetaminophen that really scares me.  I've read a ton of really horrible stuff today about acetaminophen overdose.  The opiade addiction is obviously an issue as well but I've been sitting here for the last two days wondering if my liver is going to fail.  I guess it takes several days sometimes.  I don't know.  I feel fine now and it's been 48 hours but I don't know how much time would need to pass before I could say that I'm out of the woods.

The most I have ever taken of 750/7.5 was ten in one day.  I think the only reason why I didn't overdose was because my body was used to taking close to that much daily.  Are you are regular user?  Of course the best thing you could do would be to go to a doctor to have your liver checked out.  You are really lucky though.
