scheduled for surgery tomorrow

Well, it turns out the accident caused more damage than they originally found.  My arm has been killing me since the accident and right after they had to pop it back it.  Turns out the ligaments need to be repaired and they found bone shards so I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow.  They are not sure what all needs to be done until they get in there.  Please keep me in your thoughts.  I am feeling very down and sad.  Don't know how much more I can take.

In this time of need you have to use you knowledge and as I said notice the ironies of life and enjoy them.  Of course you won't become addicted to them again.  Taking them moderately for physical pain is not the same thing as taking them long term for emotional pain.  You have all the knowledge needed to not start back.  If you let go of the emotional damage and forgive the driver for what he did you will be more prepared.

Life gives us ironies and obstacles every day.  Anyone could find theirself in your position but noone should feel like they are taking a step back.  If you let go of any negativity you will have nothing mental to supress.  If you have nothing mental to supress and experience any physical withdrawals they will feel more like being a little sick instead of feeling like your world is going to end.

Fight the negativity, fight the depression, enjoy irony, embrace love, and get better.

Since I have used this before I will add something to it my friend:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Good Luck.  Make sure to come back when you can.  Take the time you need to reflect or meditate but if you need support or a quick laugh you know where to find it.

The hard work isn't thrown away. Don't treat this like a relapse because it isn't!  Take the meds as prescribed. Have someone else hold them for you and hand them out. Maybe you'll feel better doing that...Good luck!

Dane and vicki are right - TAKE the pain meds and don't try to "tough" it out.  That will only prolong your recovery.  Let the Dr.'s know of your history and they won't let it get out of hand (believe me - I know what I'm saying with this one) - they will be very careful about how much you get.  And like I said, TAKE them.  Don't try to be a "hero" for this.

You've come so far and you'll get through this too.  I understand you're nervous, but by this time tomorrow night the surgery will be done - and you'll be on your way back.  And do everything they tell you to so you stay on top of the healing process.

You'll be fine - in fact - you'll be BETTER than fine because you're taking care of business.  Good luck to you and let us know how you're doing - we'll be thinking of you!!  :)

Oh, God, girl! I am SOOO sorry for you! That totally bites! I know you must be beside yourself. I would be.

I will be praying so hard for you! hope you have a speedy and pain-free recovery!

Is the old man's insurance covering all of this? It would s*ck even more if you had to go thru all of this, and pay a bill too! :(

Oh dear...too bad!!   Listen, it will heal although I'm sure that doesn't console you very much!

Is the pain in your shoulder mostly?  You'll need pain meds after surgery so don't hesitate to take them! You don't want to get to the point where the pain gets out of control; it's too difficult to cover if you do that!

I'll be thinking about you, too. Let us know what they found in there...
