I have the same problem with sleeping without a chemical and its terrifying whenyour still up at 3 am and are tired but just can't let go of the day. I also tried melatonin and it works great for a while you have to stop it for a few days and tehn take it for a few days. They sell it at any grocery store. I've also used Valerian root or just plain old benadryl!! Good luck!! Maybe a script for Ativan would help u sleep if nothing over the counter will help.
It's great to be positive and proud of our recovery, but overconfidence always led me back to thinking I was cured and many relapses. I think attending more meetings will help you a lot, you know what you have to do, so stick to it. The more clean time we have, it does get easier, but I will always be an addict, just one in recovery.
I used melatonin to help me sleep and it worked, but it does not work for everyone, worth a try though. Congrats on getting back up and clean again. You can do this:)
thank you for the comments. i have been attending an a.a meeting once a week. i was feeling pretty confident about my sobriety.i think i need to attend more meetings and be more aggresive about my sobriety. relapse lasted thurs. thru friday afternoon. starting to feel better, still not sleeping well. I feel more excited and anxious after 9 or 10 olclock than i do all day. sleeping maybe 2-3 hrs last couple of nights.not sure how to wind down without a chemical. i have tried meditation but cant get into it. thanks again i will keep you posted.
Did your relapse just last a day or 2 this time? Worried is right alcohol can be dangerous to c/t, but it sounds like you made it through that? Cocaine should be c/t in my opinion, there are no physical w/d's but the crash, depression and horrible cravings are tough to deal with.
Since you have been battling this for several years, are you willing to get some type of aftercare to help you stay clean. Cocaine and alcohol was always a bad combo for me and it took a few days to feel somewhat normal after going on a binge with the coke. Please keep posting and let us know how you are.
the physical part will be over for most in a week of less..the cravings/the mental aftermath can linger on for a while..this is when most relapse due to depression, fatigue etc..there r ways to make it thru CT from alcohol for ahevay drinker can be dangerous but seems u made it thru that,,,do u have a support unit> going to counseling daily if u cab or as much as u can make it..meetings r free
read thru the thomas recipe and get the supps u need to help u thru this forward
keep moving forward
