sinus problems and coke

hi can any1 help??

I did cocaine last on the 3rd sept 2011 and have had really bad nasel congestion since then and my sinuses are very inflamed.
I have seen my doc and she looked up my nose and confirmed that they were red raw and have been prescribed sterimar nasel spray,nasobec aqueous spray and naseptin nasal cream it has helped a bit but nothings cleared and its been nearly 3 weeks now.
I wake up with a thick mucus at the back of my throat that i have to get rid of in the morning and my nose feels constantly heavy and blocked. I have continious sinus pain and headaches my ears are throbbing at times to. I also have a continiuos sore throat and can not taste or smell very much.
My doc has told me it will clear as long as i never touch it again but im just wondering how long these symptoms will last  roughly  for? as i have two children to care for and feel at times i cant cope.
I will NEVER touch cocaine again as i did it as a recreational stimulant on and off for about 6yrs and im now 38yrs old even though the doc has said it will clear and i have been reffered to an ENT specialist  Istill feel really hopless and i just want to feel better and enjoy life again.
I dont consider myself as a hard user as i was doing about 2/3lines when out and about but the last time i did it on the 3rd sept 2011 i took about 8lines max but drank on top of it which i never do as a rule with vodka n pineapple juice
My friend who also shared the wrap was fine afterwards and hasnt stopped even though she knows whats happend to me and she had alot more than me.
The doctor before i told her put me on three courses of antibiotics, amoxocillion, doxycylin and another one begining with c before i told her what i had done and then she told me it will heal by its self  and not to take any more antibiotics.
So if any1 can help me with my question about how long the mucus last and the blocked nose syndrome I would be really grateful.
I cant believe whats happend to me and i really hope it STOPS other people reading this not to continue with cocaine as its changed my life around in just one night.

Its been a roller coaster for me as some days i feel ok and my nose is fine and then others its blocked and feels really awful.
Im now about to start my 6th week of recovery and even though i know my symtoms have calmed down its that mucus down the back of the throat again and the bringing it up in the morning and the fact that both nostrils get blocked on and off the day.
My eating is very up and down just like my days, but im asking agian do your sinuses ever clear?, ive never had this before and its really stopping me from going out and about.
Ive stopped useing the steroid spray for 2 days now as when i went to see my doctor on the 5th oct 2011 she told me from what she can see my nose has healed and i shouldnt be useing the spary anymore.
But ive had a constant sore throat and feel sometimes theres a lump in it, ive been drinking water and warm liquids 2 but i feel one symtom has now devloped into another.
Im seeing and ENT speecialist on the 10th Nov 2011 but hopeing il be at least a little better by then.
Ive been told about sinutab but im not sure, what do you think?

Thats great that you have started counseling!

it's great that you are eating better too. That has a lot to do with how you feel. When you don't eat properly your body can't produce all the amino acids it needs, thats why you get depressed, dragged out tired feeling, moody etc.

What you can do is check out the links at the bottom and sides of the main page for diet tips that help you get your endorphin and other amino acid levels back to normal, and keep them that way.

I don't know if you've picked up a neti- pot yet, but that will really help with your sinuses within a few days.

Keep on keeping on! You'll get there!

Thank you so much for your help, I have started Breavement Councilling 2day 26.10.11 and haveing a course of acupuncture for relaxation.
I have also started CRI for substance abuse this Wednesday.
I've got told by the doc that cocaine takes a month to clear out of your system completely as it poisons all your body with alcohol so it will be week four this Sunday  that hopefully it clears a little more.
People around me are saying I'm looking alot better and I've started eating again so hopefully im now going to be on the up and I'm never going down that hell hole again.
I'm admitting my sinuses are getting me down but with the tonsills as they are I just want to rest and sleep which can be difficult with my children.
Thank you so much for reading and responding and debbie for thinking of me in your prayers. I just want to get better now and I've been given that chance.

You can find a neti-pot at every pharmacy by the cold and cough- sinus decongestant area.

Your sinus are probably all plugged up and draining, that is why you wake up with that crap in your throat.
As suggested, go get a neti-pot and use it several times a day  until it starts to clear up. then at least once a day afterwards. It will take time to get all that crap out of your sinuses. You will see blood and guk you never thought could be in there, maybe even an old pea you shoved up there when you were a baby, LoL!
Read the directions carefully and use it properly. You headaches and ear problems can all be caused by severely packed sinuses.When you use the neti pot, point the spout towards your ear on the side of your nostril, and make that GNAHH! sound as you rinse. That will help rince out your ear canal.

The use the medicine your doc gave you after you are done.

Have fun!  it's a real blast I can tell you, LoL!  But once you get it under control you'll feel a lot better and breathe better than you have in years.
It's amazing how packed up sinuses can get over the years.

glad you are feeling better. the anitbiotics will definitely help. the nedi-pot is a sinus rinse there is also a squirt bottle. it is a saline solution that cleanses the sinuses. you can find them at any pharmacy,rite-aid,cvs.

it wouldnt hurt for you to check into some counseling to deal with your feelings. there could be some underlying issues to your continuing to use recreationally  for 6 years.

Thank you for your positive words, I have not heard of Nedi pot but will look for it online.
For the first time since the 3rd of sept my nose felt a little clearer even though i do still have a clear mucus discharge but not as much as i had so hopefully may be on the mend.
my left ear is slightly aggitated still and ive caught my 13yrs olds tonsillitus so have been put on more antibiotics from friday.
I look at both my daughters and think how could I have done this and carry that guilt every day.
My doctor also looked up my nose on friday 23rd sept 2011 and said it was alot calmer and not so sore but will take a couple more weeks to recover.
I have been refered to an ENT specialist to make sure all is ok but there is a bit of a waiting list.
Does any1 know if my sinuses will inflame again even though ive stopped useing cocaine as this now worries me as what im going through is really awful and tireing and as well as that im not eating properly.

definitely do the nedi pot, or there is a squirt bottle the salt in there will help heal it. you never know what the cocaine is cut with, this could very well be adding to the issue. if you already have sinus issues it would greatly increase the chances of this happening. i dont know when you saw the doctors and when they stopped the antibiotics but if the problem has continued for a few weeks you could be developing a sinus infection and could very well now need them.

Congrats to not wanting to use cocaine again and seeing your doctor about your sinus problem. Make sure you monitor yourself for a sinus infection. Signs and symptoms include: headache, nasal pressure, swollen area around eyes, green discharge, fever, chills. Stay hydrated so the mucus can liquify and easily be expectorated. I have used neo citran cold and sinus with good effect. I can't say this enough..getting adequate fluids is key. If you suspect an infection, the Dr. can order a x-ray to make this diagnosis. Feel better soon!

Hi, I did cocain years ago. But just wanted to respond to your post. Your nose will heal in time. At least your dr knows everything. Not sure if you have ever heard of a Netty pot or if it will help. Look it up on line. Clears out the nasal passages in a very holistic way.
Hang in there. You will be ok. Just takes time. Thank your body for trying to cleanse itself. I know it ***** but thank god you put the drugs down. Recreational use can be deadly. I have heard stories too many times.
