starting day 6

Here I am going through the w/d process thinking to myself that I will never feel normal again.  I know its not true but the tiredness and empty feeling is overwhelming.  Getting up and moving is a real chore.  Gosh,  when does this get better.

Yeah,  Fentanyl is one nasty beast.  I just hung on for dear life the first few days and tried to check in on this forum. You people are such an inspiration.  I figured that if so many of you could do it and get to the other side, I could too.  I remember on the first day thinking I did not know if I could handle another day and seeing so many others at day 5, 6, 7 etc.  It seemed like an eternity- but here I am at the end of day 6.  Thanks for all the support.  It really does make a difference to know that there are so many people out there that wish me the best and hope I get through it.   THANKS!!

HI I have been following your progress from the side lines your doing great...fentanyl is a real mother to come off of...but your thew the worst part already ....the energy crash coming off strong narcotics can in it self be debilitating....it will slowly come back
your brain needs to learn how to make natural endorphins again...right now your brain chemistry is a mess and will be for some time to come...look up the amino acid protacal on the lower right hand side of the screen you will find some supplements listed there that can aid you in your recovery....I drink whey protein shakes....there loaded with vitamins as well as amino acids along with the protein all of witch the brain needs to heal you can pick up a 2lb can up at walmart for 15 bucks..its cheep and it helps ....aftercare of some sort will do you some good also both N/A and A/A our free and the 12 step progams work if you work them ...it will help you threw this and give you the tools and skills necessary to lead a new clean and sober lifestyle you will meet people there that have been threw what you are going threw and some like you that are just starting out..it will make this whole process ezer for you...eventually you will get better just hang in there...good luck and God bless.....Gnarly

Yep I had an ugly day 6 too!  I am at 14 days right now, but it seemed like day 9 was an entirely different story!  You will turn the corner more than likely in your sleep in the next couple of nights and wake up shocked at how great you feel!!  It's insane how you WAKE UP to life.  Things begin to smell good, food tastes better, sex drive returns, your eyes begin to look different.  If I recall, the one thing that helped more than anything was reloading my Ipod and somehow I made it to the gym and got on the eliptical and broke a sweat.  The exercise and music can motivate.  You are going to have a good 4th of July I'm willing to bet!  You are 95% through this, good job!

I have read on here that the wds from Fentanyl can be awful!  You should be proud you have so many days behind you!!  Be careful asking your doctor about the "safer" meds to go on for the pain.  Read on here about the nighmares people go through coming off of them.  Even the medications that Doctors tell you are not addictive and safe have put people right where you just were.  Good luck and have a safe trip!

Lots of people coming off lots of different drugs. Perhaps ask a question that says your med in the title so others on this can respond.

You are brave and strong to decide to quit, I know how hard it is.  You are already well on your way to feeling better, I promise.  The horrible mental part is the worse so get the support you need and stick with it.  Good luck

I guess I am doing OK.  I am coming off Fentanyl and percs and its been one heck of a ride- One Iwill never take again.  When I see my pain doc next Wednesday, I am telling him that I never want to use Fentanyl again and want to look at other pain management regimes.  I just could not take counting my pills everyday to make sure I had enough and scheduling my day around when I took my meds.  To top it all off I was finding the dose was no longer working so I said what the heck, its now or wait until I have a bigger problem.  I really admire the people that can go to work and such.  There is just no way I could do that but maybe its because I was on Fentanyl which is a much stronger and longer lasting opiate.

Most people on this board were using oxys/percs.  Is anyone else coming off of Fentanyl?

Congratulations on Day-6!

How long w/d's last is different for everyone, but 10-14 days seems to be the magic number. Some people take shorter, some take considerably longer, but just browsing previous entries here and taking a mental tally, 10-14 seems about right.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work and post here often. Let us know how you're doing.
