starting to take 0.1 mg of clonidine for dilaudid withdrawal

Hello to whom may answer this for me , i'm new to this site and not to sure how things work yet. Here is my question over the course of the last month i was slowly weaned off a yr and a half addiction to dilaudid. This past thursday my doctor gave me a script for clonidine to help with some of the withdrawal symptoms. I am about to start taking it tonight for the 1st time as directed, how will it help ? and how will i feel in the coming days as my body adjusts to not having the Dilaudid.                 Thank you in advance , Daniel J

...YES take the clonidine if you havnt already. Just monitor your blood pressure if taking more than 0.3mg at a time. It will drowse you out and help some symptoms. Then once you get through the worst of it you probably wont want to take the clonidine anymore as it ha its on side effects that make you heavy/lazy/lethargic as hell. I have been kicking methadone/dope for the last two months and it helped me tremendously, but now I'm feeling almost 'right' I don't want that ish.

Hey I am 26 year old male I have been on hydromorphon contin 18 mg 3 times a day for 6 years..and the past 9 months I have been in the hospital 5 days out of every month in the hospital vomiting non stop and there is no nausea meds that help.they say I have cyclical vomiting.im now been weening off and now am on 6 mg 3 times a day..I dropped to that in less then 3 monthes. I keep getting sick and end up in hospital and puke all my meds and withdrawl on top of the cyclical vomiting. Would it be safe for me to just quit at 6 mg 3 times a day cold turkey. ..the vomiting for 5 to 7 days straight is horrible and I withdraws at same time..

2 questions.
Can taking hydromorphon cause cyclical vomiting? And can I just go cold turkey.

I do have clonadin 0.1 mg. Will this help..and how long will I withdraws for. Please help...

In addition to lowering your blood pressure, in very simple terms, it helps minimize most  opiate withdrawal symptoms (in the right dose).  My doctor had me on a very specific and aggressive dosing schedule and it worked very well when I went off of hydrocodone.  Additionally, I was instructed to check my blood pressure several times a day to make sure it did not drop too low.  Good luck to you.

Hello. First i want to say good luck and good job for trying to get off that. The clonidine is simple...(Ive used it for withdrawl before also) it is a blood pressure medication that with lower your blood pressure to help you feel mor relaxed. Whjen you are going through withdrawls your BP is raised and this helps. It will relax you and make you more comfortable during this. Withdrawl *****, i wont lie, but it only lasts for a day or 2. you might feel sick, might be sick, feel tired, mood swings...pretty much everything youve heard about, but it's really honestly worth it. Good luck and hang in there!!!
