thank you so much for all your support :-) it means so much.... mt goat, i love you to :-)
it would be so easy to fall back into the trap of my DOC, this is going to sound crazy, but the abscesses hurt soooooooo bad, and the only way to relieve that pain is to have them drained, no painkiller has ever worked in taking the pain away so i figure what is the point in taking the codiene, when its not going to help the pain. once the abscess is drained, yeah the wound hurts a bit, but ibuprofen really does help with that and to be honest after suffering really badly before the abscess is drained the slight pain in the wound is hardly noticable! i hope that make sense lol :-)
Congrats on day 26, and you and i have spoken bout pain, im probaly looking at back surgery, my doc offered i said no< i know what would happen but i need them I think or maybe it was just a test cuz i havnt hurt at all today frist since off the sub. I really do hope you find reliffe from the trouble you are having stay strong. Aaron
congradulations enough!!! i love you!!!!!
I would also like to add my support.. congrats on 26 days :) and very sorry to read of the abscesses.. hopefully they will come up with a treatment plan that will get to the root of the problem and treat so you do not have to suffer with these... Good on you, you have been keeping busy.. I wish you well.. lesa
Congrats on your clean!!!! Isnt it amazing how ibuprofen actually works!!! I hope you get some relief and the abscesses will go away. That sounds painful. Stay strong sara
It's nice to see that you have learned so much from your past mistakes and if you absolutely need to take pain meds in the future it's great to see you have a good plan. Thanks for that because it reminds me that I too can give my medication to my best friend/roommate and I know I can trust him to hang on to them and give them to me as needed.
More than anything I hope you not only learn much about what's going on with the abscess, but hopefully you can learn a great way to at least contain or supress it. Good luck on that and again, congrats on the clean time. Take care.

hi barry, the pain is only bad before the abscess is drained, once it has the relief is unreal, if it gets to the stage where i need to take a narcotic then they will be given to my hubby to dispense for me, and locked away where i cannot get to them. i am hoping that this wont happen, but who knows!
as for this skin thing, i dont know much about it, they said they would explain more about and treatment options at my outpatients appointment, this has been my fourth abscess in 8 months, its a bit of nightmare, because each time they are drained, i have to take time of work because i am a nurse and it takes a couple of weeks for the wound to heal.
It's gotta be the toughest time for someone who is a recovering addict to go through real life pain and stay away from the pain killers. What are you plans if you absolutely need to? I have often thought about if I needed to have surgery or broke a bone or something what I would do. I honeslty would prefer not to take anything....I would tell all to my doctor and explain my situation and go from there. If my doctor strongly recommended me to take something for the pain, I would, but I would ask if I could try other means first and if the pain got so unbearable then I guess I may not have a choice.
Nonetheless......congrats on the clean time and I hope the Ibuprofin continues to work for you and I hope the skin disease doesn't become too much more of a factor in your life. Good luck and take care.
