I am on day 8 free from vics. I did the taper and then c/t for a weekend since I had the weekend off of work. It can be done. You all sound like you have made the decision to stop this crazy cycle. That is the first and greatest step. Please keep up the hard work and stay strong. Take lots of vitamins ( multivitamins, B6, potassium) and drink lots and lots of fluids. Start helping your body to flush that stuff out of your system. Hot soaks and heating pads work great for the ahces. Also melatonin is great for helping you sleep.
You are strong and you can do this!

I am tapering also, I'm down to 1/2 of 7.5 vic every 6-8hrs. I am really achy today too...but I wasn't catching the buzz anymore , and it was why are you spending all this $$$ (i didn't have a rx)???? So here I am...and within a week i will be clean and sober!
One day at a time.....Good luck!
hi Hope, you have identified the major reason,in my opinion individuals stay hooked on perks, oxys, vicodin, etc.Im on the oxys at 1x80mgs,plus 2x40mgs. To make things worse i break the 80tys in half and chew them, also i chew the 40tys.I am starting on Suboxone on tuesday,i have to stop 24-hour in advance,as if a person is not in a state of moderate withdrawl, this medication will precipitate and put me in immediate discomfort.I asked if I will feel good. The dr. responded, yes, but youill feel the lack of wd symtoms, not a Buzz,Like yourself i have to come to terms that there will be no more Buzz. One day at a time. john
I am tapering off too. I used to take up to 30 7.5 (10's when I have em) Vics per day, and thats not including the rest of my pharmacopia. (Xanax, Combunox, Contin, Zoloft, blah blah blah) Now I am at 17 per day.
Keep lowering your dosage until you are finished. Just know that even when you are on your last day, you will continue to have some mild wd's for a bit.
Congrats and keep it up.
Peace : )
