suboxone disaster!!!!

I was recenetly on methadone at a clinic at 50 milligrams and i decided to switch to suboxone. So I went about 2 days with nothing. Man did I feel rough, but not as rough as it was going to get. I took 1/2 of a 8mg suboxone tablet and about 1/2 hour later I was sweating enormously, twitching, jerking, freezing and could not sit still. this made me 100x worse than what I originally was. It went on like this for 3-4 hours. I'm a pretty tough cookie when it comes to pain but this took me by suprise. I was litterally crying and jerking all over the bed begging for it to stop. I called the Dr and he said to stop until he seen me again.

Has anyone ever had anything like this happen, This was true torture!!!!!
Please help!!!!!! also anybody have any ideas on what to do?? I want to continue this but not if it is going to kill me!!!!!

YES it happened to me. When I first got on suboxone, the first 8mg pill I took, about 20 minutes later I went into severe withdrawl. It only lasted about 1 1/2 hours, but it was bad. They say if you are not in withdrawl when you take it, it will put you in immediate withdrawl. When I took my first suboxone I was not in complete withdrawl and thats what happened

Wow, 78% sucess rate of staying clean when using Suboxone longer term as a maintenance drug.. That is VERY GREAT NEWS TO HEAR!  Sinc this is going to be my #1 priority when I go and see my Sub DR ont he 26th.. Can you tell me where you found this study results so that I can let him know this(if he doesn't already).. Thanks

As for Chris425, if I were you I would try the suboxone taper rather than cold turkey, but if you feel like you have what it takes to quit c/t off the methadone, then GREAT!! BEST OF LUCK!

Ouch! To start with, most people & I say, most people dont die from opiate withdrawal, booze withdrawal yes, but not opiates, so rest asure you are not gonna die. But you may have to face up to the fact that you are gonna suffer some withdrawal, its to be expected, just hang in their & if it gets to bad, maybe think of going into some kinda rehab center? I agree with duckandcover that maybe you didnt wait long enough for the methadone to get out of your system? Also keep in mind that their is no wonder drug that cures addiction, as suboxone is also very addicting & people withdrawal off of it just as much as methadone, I just spoke with a addiction specialist yesterday & she told me that some methadone patients must wait at least 48 hours prior to making the transition to suboxone, & if they dont, they will suffer. I can only tell you to hang on, this bad ride will come to a end, but its gonna take some time, be as patient as you can & if their ever was a time in your life to pamper yourself & take it easy, it is now!   Take Care Penelope

are you staying away from the suboxone?
i transitioned successfully from methadone to suboxone...let me know if you are doing this and need any help...
and IF you are switching from methadone to suboxone...14 days might not cut it, as methadone withdrawals CAN last for up to 6 weeks.. i have been on suboxone since may and there are now some studies out there that show long term maintenance with suboxone has a 78% success rate...
so as i said, i was a little confused by your post if you going cold turkey all the way? or with suboxone?  sorry for being confused...
let me know, send me a PM if you would like...

You can do this....One day you have to get this poison out of your body, better now then later, the longer you are on it, the more it will hurt to get it out..
then u many be very surprised that it may not be that bad
Get a plan, stick to it, GO FOR IT.....
I am praying for you!!!
Please post and let us know how you are doing

this drug tricks the receptors in your brain AND methadONE does the same thing. meth, is used for heroin addics. to trick them to thinking they are high, you took to much mixing the suboxone. stay away from any of these if you can BUT suboxone can be effective if used for a short period of time and the right reasons. some ppl use it as a crutch when they run out of the regular pills they take. DO NOT  do this the long term effect of suboxone is worse than a withdrawl from pain pills and about the same as  methadone or ultrams(these are very very bad if takin longer than 14 days stay away)

Ok heres the new scoop..since my original post on here Feb 01 2008 I have been continuing my original methadone treatment! Until yesterday when I went in there and they decided that it was time for me to IDR-INSTANT DETOX RELEASE!!!  yeah I'm thinking the same thing you are right now-----W-H-A-T???Anyways I was on 49 milligrams Monday 11 and today 13 I'm down to 36 mgs.!!! I have to go down 5 milligrams a day unitl I hit 0(zero)mgs. Which will be in a bout 5 more days then I will be basically on my own!!! JOANZING~~~& WITHDRAWLING AGAIN!!!!
The Dr. said that since I swtiched to suboxone that he wouldn't let me come back to it that he was IDR me at that time which basically is a rapid detox in 7 days from approx. 50 mgs..Everyone out there on pain pills or methadone knows that this will kill a person!!!! So now as bad as this suboxone killed me the first time I have to start this all over again!!!! I'm so scared! (please read first post on here previously for further info).
So basically by the 20th of this month I will be with no metadone or nothing for the first time in 3 years!!! Man am I nervous! I want to do this so so so bad in my head but it's so hard menatlly!!!
Any suggestions on what to do ?? I have to get a game plan together quick!! I will keep you posted throughout my phasing out here.

thanks for all your support!

I know from my wife's experience that you absolutely MUST be detoxed before suboxone.  Otherwise it's like a magnifying glass on your withdrawl.  You CAN do it.  It IS worth it!  Hang in there!!

I  posted to you in the other post, but maybe you did not see it.

In any case, what you experienced is precipitated withdrawal. The doc started you on the Suboxone too soon. Methadone has a long half-life and hence, you have to wait usually 5 days before transitioning. It can be done but you will have to go through some discomfort to get there. Talk to your doctor.
