my husband has been on hydrocodone for over 2 years for his back he has a herniated dic he started off with what tthe doctor had him on then became needing more and more cause 500mg wasnt enough then 1000mg wasnt enough and he was popping like 5 a day he became very irritable cause he was in pain and pain killers came to the point they did nothing for his pain was more of just a need to get by and i got tired of it i told him enough is enough and he needed help so he got on these strips you mentioned and you HAVE to be completly clean or you will be sooo sick it helps with getting off pills but the pain is still there it just helps you with getting away from the opiates... he continuted 8mg for a week and it helped and now he is off of the vicodin he does crave them still but knows ill be gone and so will his daughter cause they overtake him.

first off ALL SUB is a narcotic it is different because it is only a partial antagonist but bids to the opiate respirators in the brain blocking out other opiates....it is not advisable to buy this off the street go to a clinic and do it right.....they already know your an addict so nothing to hid there but it will be givin to you at the proper dose level for your habit if not you may be taking way to much or not enough more then likely as addicts we tend to over medicate this is not a drug you want to do this with it takes on different property's tell your bro to get to a sub doctor and go with the whole progam including consoling otherwise all your doing is switching addictions and sub is one you dont want to trade for .....its not a '' get out of jail free card''  the withdrawals can be pritty ruff.....ruffer then oxy or any other pill habit you might have he is playing with fire here we get a lot of self administered sub addicts in here that really suffer coming off the stuff..........Gnarly

Ive taken the strips before, they are not an opiate per say. They are the exact same as suboxone pills but they are in strip version now because it dissolves faster under your tongue and the taste is not as bad. The suboxone works to block the opiate receptors so when you're on suboxone you cannot get high off of any opiate. It also really eliminates cravings and when you're detoxing it eliminates the WD symptoms. But make sure you wait 24 hours or at least until you can defintely feel yourself in WD otherwise if you take the suboxone too early it will kick out any remaining opiates out of your opiate receptors and send you into precipitated WD, meaning you will immediately go head on into the worst of the WD's and it is not pretty. Happened to me once, worst 24 hrs of my life, wow, it was so bad. So make your brother knows to wait before taking them!!!

Also, in my opinion suboxone is best used as a short detox plan, because if you only take it a few days it helps you get through the worst of the WD symptoms, without getting physically addicted to the suboxone (as suboxone in itself is addicting and has a very painful WD of it's own.) So as long as he only takes it a few days he should be fine.

As for the exact number of days he should stay on it, and what mg amount each day, well, it's not allowed on this site to give out that kind of information here because we are not doctors only other recovering addicts. But I will say from my personal experience using suboxone to detox, you only need a little bit and it goes a long way. It is very very strong, which is why the biggest it comes in is just 8mg tablets. Each mg. is incredibly powerful in my experience. For deciding the right dosage to take it also depends on what he was using and how much a day. In my case I was doing about 300mg of oxycontin a day and the first few days I detoxed I could get away with about 3mg a day, after that I barely needed any. I thought that was a good amount because it didnt make me high at all (which sometimes large dosages of suboxone can do) it only kept me from not being extremely sick and bedridden so that I could still manage to go to work and school.

BUT THATS ONLY MY EXPERIENCE, I AM NOT A DOCTOR, AND THIS IS ONLY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE. Everyone is different. Good luck!
