suboxone

Okay so I want to start off by saying boy am I glad I found this site and thanks for letting me be apart of it. I don't feel so alone anymore now. Okay so my question is about suboxone. I too for your years struggled with narcotic  pain pill addiction and eventually found the oh so awful methadone and thought that was the way out. Needless to say I found this out the long and hard painful way. So anyway after being on the methadone for two years I had to get off and ten months later found myself with an even worse pill addiction than before. So now I am on sub. I am prescribed two strips a day. Do I take them together or seperately? Is this dose too high? Why do i feel high sometimes? Or like i have taken too many pills or something? What do I do? I nearly lost myself to the pills before so I don't want to take any chances of going back to that again. It's been nearly six months now of being on the sub or longer.

Suboxone saved my functionality! i was in and out of hospitals in pain i was in so much pain than my doc wanted to take me off the vicodin no way i said so i researched suboxone the ingredient is the leading drug for pain in europe. i have been on for three years i am down to 2mg twice a day. how many mg are youre strips? i throw up if i have too much thats how i know  its too  much. nothing wrong with feeling hiigh and good. it has a natural antidepressant. i chose to stay on subox forever  i just slowly strted to reduce it as needed so i dont go back to smoking opium or in and out of hospitals .. addiction doc fine with it. if i stay on forever. there may be a reason youre body needs the medicine. dont be so hard on yourself but trust your feelings and youre read on it. Juust dont get discouraged by the antidrug hysteria. it really is not your situation and hasnt been maybe you should accept that or find the underlying cause that draws you to the pills. chemical imbalance ptsd whatever accupuncture really helps me also and dr shultz program now.

I think Jaybay is right. I believe you are taking too much. My daughter started on 2 strips a day, but was quickly dropped to one strip a day which she cut in half and took one half in the morning and one half in the late afternoon. I would talk to your doctor about the amount you are taking.

If you read the thread above I posted called "My Daughter Did It!" then you will see how she was able to use Suboxone successfully.

I also just asked her if she ever got high from the Suboxone and she replied that she did... but not so much so that she couldn't function. She was more alive and alert and able to perform better at work, too. She said the "high" was a side-effect and would go away eventually. She also said to be aware that headaches are a major side-effect of which she suffered, but she was able to combat the headaches by taking four Ibuprofen at the onset of the headache.

I would address these issues the next time you see your doctor. And stay in therapy and go to those NA meetings! My daughter told me that she would have relapsed ten times if not for her therapy sessions and NA.

Good luck to you and good luck with your choice to get off the narcotics!

Yes, I am getting the sub from a doctor and also receive counseling. I have been able to accomplish more in the form of being able to hold down three jobs being back in school and just taking care of my everyday responsibilities. I just want to be sure that i am doing this right this time around.

You're overmedicated.  Talk to your doctor and make certain you know how much and how often you're supposed to take it.  If you aren't getting your Sub through a doctor, now is the time to find one.  Are you getting any aftercare in the form of a private therapist or AA/ NA?  You've been fighting your addiction for so long.  It's time to try something different so you succed this time.  :-)
