Sorry Kova, I know she pushes aftercare really big but don't know the details. Now I remember you --- 28 days -- wooooo hooooo you are ahead of me and one of the people who give me hope that this will get better. I am only on day 21 and still having problems after coming off sub.
thanks for the info. so how long have you been clean and does she still help you? i am passed the acute stage, 28 days today, so i mean long term care.
Kova
Hi Kova, Yes, one of the long term members on this site is very knowledgeable on this stuff and helped me to write a schedule to taper off my Oxy in 2 weeks --- I cut from 140 mg/day to 70 then got 20 8mg tabs of Sub from another addict. Then this 'helper' made me a 21 day schedule to taper off the Sub. We emailed every day giving me encouragement, answers, and when I needed it - kicked my butt. I would never let her down by relapsing ---- she invested much time in my recovery. She helps many people and if you like I can write and have her contact you. There were three of us who asked her for help at the same time and I am the only one who didn't relapse --- so, I am sure that it is discouraging to her when she tries to help but some fall back. She is VERY big on picking a 'quit' date and sticking to it. Best to you and PM me if you like. All the best.
don't knwo if you saw my post on after care, but could you be more specific about "finding someone to be accountable to"?
Kova
Hi guys, Kova - you are 'right on' in my opinion. I used Sub to withdraw for 21 days and am still fighting the after effects of it. My W/D's have lessened by not stopped - they are less frequent and not as severe, but OMG, how I look forward to them being gone for good. I agree that for most people getting on Sub can be a he11ish nightmare to every get clear of. There were a couple of things I did right and I like to pass on to those who are still fighting addiction. One was to burn my bridge -- a very difficult thing to do - cut off my supply by telling my doctor what I was doing. So, no going back. Then telling those closest to me for help and encouragement. Next, found someone to be accountable to -- last was continuing to ask questions and read others on this site. Back to the subject of Sub or No Sub --- just beward that most doc's over prescribe and get patients hooked just changing their DOC. I know guys - this is just my opinion for whatever it's worth. Bottom line-- unlike my idea about this going into it --- I have concluded that there is no such thing as detoxing and getting clean without paying a price ----- You MUST be willing to suffer at some point to get clean ----- But it is sooooo worth it. All the best.
Although i am trying to keep an open mind about the Sub, i still think the docs over presribe it and end up keeping addicts addicted, only now the money is going to legal dealers (docs and pharmacy). but in very small doses and on a quick taper plan it can be useful. helped me get through the almost unbearable days of my detox, but now at day 28 i can say i am really glad i don't now have a Sub addiction to deal with! it served it's purpose and now i have no more use for it.
Kova
