Hi, There are so many new people here , most struggling or deciding to get their life back....I just thought it would be nice for everyone here who has made it through to write something to give then something to look forward to...And just maybe it can help them get through at least today...
I will start first with
DOC was lortab 10 mg, cough medicine w/codeine, or any opiate i could get ( except OC's, methadone, suboxone)..
years abuse was 3 yrs
Amount i was taking was about 15 a day sometimes a little more, somedays a little less...
Went C/T  and I will have 9 months on the 4th of June.....

Good idea.

Norco 10/325 10-20/day, + tramadol (ultram) 2-4/day + butalbital w/ codeine ad lib, valium ad lib.

31 days pill-free and SERIOUSLY...I've never felt better.

You can do it too!

tylox and percocet are oxycodone...oxycontin is a time released form of oxycodone and harder to get off of...hydrocodone is a bit weaker and is called Norcos, lortabs, vicodens...then u go down the list with darvacet and codeine as weaker opiates...tramadol is a syntheic opiate as well but it is hard to class it with these others as it also has anti-depressent qualities as well...all are addictive

Wanted to bump this up. It is great to hear other peoples stories of how they became addicted.  It just helps knowing that we are not alone in this...........

Great to hear everyone's stories. I started Vics/tylenol3 whatever I could get my hands on due to a torn rotator cuff and bad arthritis pain about 3 years ago. Used to get codeine shipped in from Canada, Spain, etc. until I got scared because border control opened up  the packages and found the pills and sent me a letter that it was illegal. Also found a few websites on here that were more than willing to send me 90 hydros/mo. if I faxed my medical records and paid for a consult with some foreign doc (supposedly) that just asked me what I wanted and sent it to me. Did that for 2 years....so easy to obtain. Finally I got to the point of financial ruin and tired of waking up everyday worrying about where I would find the next pill or the $ to pay for it and going thru withdrawals all the time. Got so sick of that.  Found a Bup doctor a few months ago and here I am doing very well on it and looking forward to the day that I can get off of them and be totally FREE!

As is Endocet for Percocet?  And Oxycodone (HCL) for Roxicet, as with Oxycodone ER and Oxycontin?  Just name brands?  I never liked hydro's much liked oxycodone much better, I guess that its all the same, but I feel like Oxycodone itself is stronger and more of a downer, I always got an up from hydro's just IMO.

I have one question, I see a lot of people saying their DOC's were Norco's, I heard that they really didn't do anything compared to lortabs, or vics, and nothing like percs.  Care to elaborate, I ask you all in confidence that this isn't a sore subject or trigger for anyone and we can talk about it.

oh I forgot. I was using 10/650 lorcets. A few oxys, somas and xanax. A nice little coctail and drinking heavily on top of that. I am down to one beer a day and dont drink more than 3 in one day on the weekends. It seems since i've started the sub I don't have the desire for alcohol. I was taking anywhere from 20 a day at my worst of lorcets and about 12-15 regularly.

I was taking over 25 of the 10/500 lortab a day. I went cold turkey over 2 months ago (I think) and haven't looked back since. It wasn't easy but so worth it. I now feel completely back to my old self. If it wasn't for this forum and all the wonderful people here, who knows where I'd be today. For those of you that haven't taken the plunge yet, it is so worth it. Just stay strong and take it a day at a time. Best of luck to all!

Hmmmm lets see. I was taking hydrocodone for 5 years. I have 5 failed attempts at quitting. The last year has been the worst. Almost lost everything. I am currently taking suboxone and doing well. My home life is back to normal, I'm functioning great at work and best of all I'm a GOOD DAD again.  Playing with my kids again has been absolutely the best thing yet.
If not for this forum I would be in the gutter.  I recieved so much help and advice. I was able to get clean a couple times last year for longer than any previous attempt. This has been the hardest thing I have had to do. It's not so much the withdrawls as it is staying clean. The anxiety and cravings always got me after I was clean. Good luck to all.

Again thanks to everyone.  You ALL have given me more than you know.

I do want to quit so bad.  I'm done with this part of my life.  I take about 60 mg a day of lortab.  I hate the way I feel in the morning I hate the way I feel each time I take a pill.  At first I use to think I didn't have a problem because I don't do any drugs and these were prescribed by my doctor but then I realized that i do have a problem.  I do want help I do want to not ever take these pills again.  I don't want to search around for them and count them and hope that  I will never run out.  It is out of control but I know I can quit.  I am just scared of the symptoms or withdraws that I will go thru.  I am terrified of that.  I love my family so much that I absouletly have to stop taking these pills.  Thank you for your message it opened my eyes because everything you said is what I do when it comes to pills.   I can't be another addict... A addict can't be me :) Thanks :)
