Hey! I've never used it for w/d's but if I had to do it over again, Restoril would be the sleep med I'd choose for the reasons I've stated above. The severest side effect I've seen listed is a possible allergic reaction in which case you seek prompt emergency attention, The other possible side effects are typical & include: somnolence, dizziness, numbness, confusion, hallucinations, aggression, suicidal ideation, restless muscle movements, easy bruising unusual weakness, flu symptoms, low fever, loss of appetite, nausea, jaundice.
A caveat: I stated above that this is a primarily psychologically addictive drug. I should add that it is indicated for only 1 -12 weeks and that it's possible if used consistently - especially at higher doses for a sustained period of time to suffer w/d's from it - particularly if you're an addict. That said, it is still considered a relatively safe sleep med compared to some others and benzos, If you have liver issues I'd ask a doctor if it's Okay to take. I say this simply because of the listed possible side effect of jaundice. I'd follow the prescription to the letter and use it for as short a time as needed. Good luck!
Hi,
I've taken it before. What's your actual question about? What I can tell you up front is that it's been around since 1981 and has a good safety record. I'd trust it more than, say, Ambien (sleep walking - sleep driving, etc.) While it's classed as a benzo it's not an anxiolytic. It's strictly a hypnotic. It's not so much physically addictive as it's psychologically addictive (which in the long run is the ultimate problem for addicts) - as all sleep aids can be. Hope this helps.
