I think it will all be fine. Good you told your doc, best to be honest for you to change your life now. Quitting is the only choice you had, If your child was addicted when he/she was born, then there would be trouble. You can't change the past, only your present and future, You want your new family to be at it's best from now on, that will be recognised. Are you eating good and taking vitamins now. Go to aa/na meetings, they will really help you for your support. I love them and it's a place you can say what you feel without being judged. Also meet other clean and sober people and have a nice time out. Keep up the good work being clean Mom and keep taking good care of you and the baby. Keep happy!!!
CPS won't get involved if you have discussed this with your Dr. The Dr. will inform the nurses that there had been prior opiate uses and the nurses will be prepared to check the baby at delivery for any potential withdraws just to be on the safe side. When you stop using the pain meds, they should be out of your system in 3 to 5 days as well as the babies. I believe they will check the babies meconium (first bowel movements that are black and sticky) to make sure you weren't using anything. It can remain in the babies meconium for 1 to 10 days if you used any opiates recently. I'm glad you came clean with your Dr. He is your advocate now. Babies born addicted to opiates have to suffer withdraw symptoms just like we would since there brains are wired like ours to accept that opiates are the norm. Your baby should be fine since you stopped at 26 weeks. I can't imagine there being any problems with 14 weeks clean time. And congrats on your 4 weeks! Are you going to any support meetings now such as NA or AA?
but remember it stays in the baby's system double the time it's in yours. so it's about 3 days for most pain killlers which would be around 6 in baby's
CPS cant do anything if it was in your past. they will probably test the baby and you after you deliever and if u test positive then something will be done about it
Rest easy Mom, At full term you will be 100% clean. No worries despite your reveal. If your Doc was so nonchalant about being proactive when you reached out, he will no doubt not be on a witch hunt when babe comes. Stay the straight an narrow and your golden. Congrats on your kicking the pills and on your expecting gift.
sorry you are going thru this....i don't have any personal experience with this but i'm sure people on here do....more will be along later to help....it's sort of slow right now...just hang on and more will come and give you some advice and support! it's a great thing you have done getting off the pills! good luck with it all! stay strong!
