I will tell my doctor but i want to wait till I am firmly back on both feet. kaiser doc's don't help they send you to subtance abuse even if your not abusing and I wasn't. I never took more than precribed and often less. I don't wnat this on my record it could come back to bite me in the ***. Soon I'll be leaving kaiser this would be consider another pre-existing condition. Also I still have a nursing license and I don't want to put it in jeapordy i maybe needing to use it again soon as my husband lost his job and also just had a stroke. Stress
level here is very high. Found out yesterday he is not a candidate for a stint as he had cancer of the troat 6 years ago and the radiation destryed the cartroid artery to the left side of the brain. It is gone. No way to bypass as there is nothing there.

I have no desire to take these things again, not after all this pain. yes having meds to help would be nice. They would give me davorset and i don't want them. I still have to get off the 20mgs of valium when this is over. They really don't help much but they are better then nothing. The davorset really stops these kind of WD's that's why the perocet's stopped me from taking the norco's in mexico I just wasn't aware of what was going on.

One thing at a time. You are right to work on the opiates first. But, the advantage to telling your doctor would be that there are some meds he could give you to make this a bit more comfortable.

The good new is though, like i said earlier, you are probably just about through the worst of the withdrawals.

You will have to talk with your doctor when you are ready to wean off the benzos. That can not be done alone without your doctors supervision.

Also, telling your doctor about your problem with the opiates would cut off your source of supply. This could be essential to long term sobriety.

Your doing great. Try some of our suggestions and hang tight. We are with you........

thx so much. It was you that made me decide to just stop. I was really afraid but more afraid of the drug. I know I will still have to come down off the bezos but I will do that slowly with the help of the doc. I hope. I haven't told him i stopped the Norco wanted to get clean of it and make sure the pain was gone. So far so good. If it hadn't been for  doctor in mexico who got me off them with percocet which by the way the only WD I had was the trots and I thought maybe tht was from the food I don't think I would have stopped.

I started taking them when I returned home after having major dental surgery and My mouth exploded and then I broke out with shingles. I should have listened to my doctor in mexico and stayed longer. She warned me that I would propably have some real problems with my mouth and it needed moe work. it was the day before christmas and I thought I should come home. I'l already been gone for three months. My husband even told me to stay. I keep asking myself why didn't I listen. I also wish I hadn't had given away the bottle of percocet I had before I left for the states because thy worked getting me off the Norco's, but I didn't feel I needed anything. The old pain from a terrible surgery I had in 97 was gone.It didn't take long using them plus evryday unlike here I was always walking or riding just busy all thetime with my friends and my little explorations. Everyday was a new adenture. Returning here to the wind and ain kept me house bound and the teeth thing then the shingles I didn't have a chance in hell. It taught me to listen Like I listened to you and others here to just stop.

natural sources or dopamine are not really possible.  there are however things which enhance dopamine like tyrosine which is a precursor to dopamine...but if ur feeling anxious it is not a good idea to take more than 500-1000 mgs per day in 2-3 doses with EmergenC or juice..if u r not feeling anxious and more fatigued and down feeling then 2000-3000 is recommended...it will perk u up so if anxiety is a factor in ur wds right now then it is not a good thing to take too much of it
Exercise is another wonderful way to pump it out quick..increases dopamine big time while and for hours after u exercise....sex is another...chocolate is another...green tea can also help/real chinese green tea tho///tonic water is a theory but have heard good results...take calcium and magnesium at 800 mgs before bed with a glass of tonic water
again if anxiety is an issue do not take much tyrosine..exercise is still great tho...no stimulant type drugs like caffeine or nicotine is good for rls either
have u tried a muscle realxer at bedtime like zanalex or flexeril?

Hey there,

Hang in there. You are nearly through the worst of it. Get youself some bananas and eat a couple each night. You need the potassium to help with the RLS. Get yourself a magnesium/potassium supplement as well. These are the things that helped my RLS the most and i had it really bad. You can also buy som Hylands Restful Legs at wal-mart. It is pretty cheap and has the same ingredient, quinine, in it that the prescription drugs for RLS have in them, just in a lower dose. Tonic water also has quinine so that may help.

Just don't give up. You can do this. You have more strength than you know and now is the time to discover it. It is time to discover what you are made of. And i know for sure that what you are made of is far stronger than those pills!

We are here for you all the way through and beyond! Keep posting, it helps.......

Luv, Jacky

There are vitamins and amino acids that are very good.  They are in the health pages.
I would think the tremors would be better by now.  But here's to doing what you're told!!!!

Are you taking other meds?

It is not exactly normal..but it happens frequently specially with high quantiy users or strong doc's....what was ur dose?
People who exercise daily r less likely to be afflicted with RLS...exercise releases dopamine and it is the lack of dopamine while the brain adjusts to producing it again in sufficient quantities that causes rls during wds...the body is a fine tuned work of art and while u were feeding it outside sources of dopamine..ie pills..it stopped making as much..then u took it away...and it has to catch up again..takes time...but exercise kick starts it and produces it on demand...rls can be compared to parkinsons/a disease caused by a lack of dopamine causing jeking..twitching etc...but wd rls will pas..just gotta give it time while ur brain heals
there r 2 articles in the health pages that will help u understand....one on dopamine and one on rls....stay well and keep moving forward
it is worht it  (:
