vicodin withdrawals

I'm on day 5 cold turkey, man its hard.Thankful I found this forum, has helped alot.I've had two back surgerys and got hook up with these lovely devils for a few years now.Was getting my junk from on line pharms, with my medical records was easy.Played the game in my head I wasn't addicited until these on line suppliers(3 of them now)take the money and run or get raided or whatever and my life stops.Guess my question is when does the joy return? Not joy from a pill but real joy of being alive and loved. Thanks

All Right! your on your way back to normal if there is such a thing.I am on day 9 and go up and down, have my moments of doubt and pain but don't want to get back on the drug merry go round. The cravings are in my mind now and not physical but my back still hurts me so I will OD on ibuprofen but that should take 50 years.Hang in there and so will I

oh my god, thank you, reasurrance feels amazing, and i was a little skeptical and scared thinking i mite be just developing anxiety disorder. yesterday i finally made it back to skool after missing 4 days, and the anxiety is still great first and second period, but i can handle it, and it feels great at times to be back normal and sober!

Oh yeah, one of the hardest parts. We lost our security blanket, but remember its was just an allusion dependant on a pill that wears off and requires more and more to maintain that security.Think how good it will be when you can face the world on your own two feet without looking for that bottle of pills.YOU CAN DO IT! Everyday gets easier,I'm on day 7 and I miss them but I'm not giving in.

I take trazadone and have since I had brain surgery 5 years ago.  One of the only side effects I have had from the surgery was that I am unable to sleep without taking some sort of sleeping pill.  Trazadone is great.  It helps to calm you down and turn your mind off.  Trazadone at high levels is an anti depressant, but at the levels given for sleep is only that.  Its not like Valium or ativan, although the side effect of helping sleep is the same.  Its not addictive in the sense that the pain pills or valium is, however, my dr told me not to quit taking it without tapering off cause it can cause some rebound sleeplessness.

Sleep is a biggie when your in w/d and could be for some time. Try the OTC sleeping aids or melatonin first because you can get hooked on prescription sleeping pills as you know.

Thanks for the support.Hardest part is sleep or lack of it.I just cant stay asleep. Then I wake up and want to take a pill that would cure everything.ha ha.Thinking about going to the doc. today and getting something to help me sleep. With my luck I'll get hooked on sleeping pills.

Welcome and congrats on 5 days c/t. You just need to ask yourself each day if your not starting to feel better already and each day will get better. Make some plans to change the way you are living so you dont fall back in the trap. Change friends, places and whatever it takes to reduce the gravings. There are a boat load of ppl going though what you are, so there plenty of ppl to ride the storm out with. The best thing is to get asking questions and you will keep getting positive feedback.
