vicodin withdrawals

This is my first post gang so here goes.  any hel pwill be appreciated. I have been on vikes for about 15 months after some wrist surgery. I've had some nasty complications and I'm not back to work yet as a mailman. I really need to get back though. I knew about 4 months ago I was had a problem with the vikes. Back then I was taking about 6-8 vicodin es a day. Anyway I quit ct for a month. The withdrawals were kind of nasty for about 5 days . The pain in my hand came back with a vengeance. So back on the vikes although only 5 mg this time and only about 6 a day. I always take my daily dose all at once. So I guess my question would be is it harder the second time to come off or should I seek an outpatient detox center as we have one in my town nd my insurance does cover it. Any help is appreciated. Man these drugs suck!!

You should be able to swing it ct or with a taper...that is only 30 mg a day...if u taper it would be good to spread those out for a couple of days into 3 doses instead of one dose that spikes your blood level....there is a great article on tapering and the thomas recipe as well in the ehalth pages...spread out your mg over the day then chop off some each day...or CT...either way  it is do-able

do you have a week you can use to just go cold turkey?? You will feel like you have the flu..days 3-4 usually seem to be the hardest..and then you will feel better all the time..I would defiantely try that first since you havent been using them for a really long time. if you simply can't do it then i would look into an outpatient detox..and keep posting. you will find alot of support here.and Welcome to the forum..

Hi,

Welcome to the forum,

Each time you stop, it can vary. It differs from person to person. The first time might be really easy and the second time really difficult. There are a couple different options. You can taper them slowly. Or you can go to the outpatient detox. There are drugs like Suboxone that can help as well.
