waking up for oxy...

When I go to the pharmacy to get my prescription, I smile from ear to ear when i leave there. Crazy? Nope. I just am happy as hell to have my oxycodone. I am a 5 year user. Iive for these damn things. My life sucks from taking these. I am not the man I was 5 years ago. I need some one to swap stories with about how oxy takes over your life.

I am investigating on how to detox. If there are any suggestions....feel free to shoot it at me.

I take 40mg HCL 3 times a day and sometimes 4 !!!!! I run out and BAM, it kicks my *** and I have to find some "outside recourses" and that sucks worse! This is my "WHITE DEVIL" and I need to rid myself of this ****!!!!

Please...I know I'm not alone.

You've been taking them for about 3-4 yrs. Yes, you are dependant on them. You would go thru withdrawels. BUT YOU WILL NOT STOP THEM COLD TURKEY !!  LOL, just thought I would repeat that for the hell of it.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES QUIT THE TAMAZAPAM COLD TURKEY !!
Going cold turkey from a benzo can cause seizures, stroke and or death. This must be tappered off of Very slowly, perferably under a doctors supervision.
As far as using it for sleep instead of valium, i would think , yes. I would not reccomend taking Valium with the tamazapam.

Thank you, I am honored to be here..I guess I found the right place!

Anyhow, will TAMAZAPAM work for thr valume? I am prescribed it for helping me sleep.....

This is a bad place to be...I am presribed oxy for my pain (addictive) and Tamazapam for sleep (also addictive)..I don't know if I am addicted to the tamazapam too or not? I take one every night before bed for about 3 or 4 years now. It is a benzo and I heard they are addictive too???

Also, you should look into some sort of aftercare to find out what made you use in the 1st place. Everyone once again is different, but everyone does suggest aftercare. I am only 28 days clean so maybe I need help & just don't know it, but I don't think I need aftercare because my tolerance just built up & I let it get the best of me. I am on here everyday! I usually do not post, but I do READ EVERYDAY!! I know that I will not let this or any other drug control my life EVER AGAIN!

Welcome to the forum.
You can go cold turkey, tapper or try the Suboxone.
I would always suggest cold turkey if at all possible. You'll be very sick, really bad flu for about 4-7 days. You won't die, you may feel like it, but you won't. There are things that can help you thru it, like the Thomas receipe, which I will past below this.  You can do this, there is nothing to fear about going cold turkey. You're just gonna be sick. You can deal with that, can't you? If you had the flu, you'd get thru it . We'll be here to help and support you. Here's the Thomas receipe:
* [Warning. If you are on anti-Depressants, use medical supervision on L-Tyrosine, SamE and all mood enhancers. There can be a risk if taking L-Tyrosine, 5 HTP  if you are on a tricyclic  or a MAIO antidepressant's ...It can cause a spike in blood pressure.]

PLEASE NOTE: I am not a doctor, simply a long-time Rx opiate junkie who has had many opportunities to develop a way to detox. This is a recipe for at-home self-detox from opiates based on my experience as well as that of many other addicts. It is not intended as professional medical advice. It is always wise to make sure none of the recipe ingredients or procedures conflict with medications you may be taking. Likewise, if you have any medical condition, disease, allergy or any other health issue, consult your doctor before using the recipe. Thanks, Thomas

THOMAS RECIPE

If you can't take time off to detox, I recommend you follow a taper regimen using your drug of choice or suitable alternate -- the slower the taper, the better.

For the Recipe, You'll need:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.

2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).

3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.

4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper, Magnesium and Potassium (you may not find the potassium in the same supplement).

5. Vitamin B6 caps.

6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:

Start the vitamin/mineral supplement right away (or the first day you can keep it down), preferably with food. Potassium early in the detox is important to help relieve RLS (Restless Leg Syndrome). Bananas are a good source of potassium if you can't find a supplement for it.

Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5.

During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.

Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it.

At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help.

Continue to take the vitamin/mineral supplement with breakfast.

As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.

You are the man! Wow, I was always told I should try and sniff my pills but I was always scared to. The worst I did was crush it up in my mouth so it would take affect quick. I never thought i had aproblem until i ran short a few months back. I was about 5 days short from telling myself that i needed a fourth pill on some of my painfull days.

I am a vet and i was injured back in 2000 and it started with percocet...then they didn't help anymore...then 10 mg strait oxy....no good after afew months...then 15mg, 30, and now 40.

You know, I wake up in the morning and instead of thanking god for another day, I head strait for my pill bottle. I will admit, nothing helped my pain until I reached 40mgs. Now, I recently told my doctor I needed stronger...like I needed that as much as the korean clap! He said "No Way!" and I was happy to keep my 40s.

I tried several months ago to get help through the VA's substance abuse program and they turned me down! Yup, I was eligible because I didn't have an alchohol or cocain problem. Unbelievable, huh? Ya know, you can put your *** on the line in a foriegn country, but when it comes to wanting to better your life from a pill addicted place of horror, they can't give a ****!

Dude, I feel for you and if it means anything at all, I am proud of you. I need people like you who were or are there to help me fight this ****. I kow the withdrawl effects from running out early, but I always find a dr. feelgood to help my until refill day.

I am sure your withdrawl was much worse then mine will be...actually, I am not sure...but you are strong as hell to get through it without going back...

Hope you are going to be on here for a bit longer, because I can use some cheering up for this dreadfull day coming soon!

Also, anyone else that is in my boat...feel free to chime on in..

By the way bro, you have a lot of good in you to go on this site and help others. I want to be able to do the same after my detox is over...and I will

Thanx a million man!

no you arent alone my man... i just turned 20 a few days ago and i been sniffing oxys for the last year.. sometimes 2 oc 80s at a time..its discusting now that i think of it..i mean thats more then 15 perocet 10s..crazy..well im only 15 days into it and all the physcial stuff is gone but what scares me is knowing whenever im stressed or have to deal with soemthing i just hate, i know im gonna want to turn to oxy and/or other stuff..i know that this is going to be a lifelong struggle and its a whole lifestyle change..you cant just stop and control it, opiates control you no matter what..you think you can control it then it has you by the balls before you know it..

i think your best bet is to try suboxone..once you get over the phyiscal stuff, i would discontinue use of them too or your just trading problems.. i had a friend that took as much oc as me and stopped within 10days.. personally, i stopped cold turkey and it was hell..i had stomach pain, depression (still do), insomnia, cold sweats, gas, digestive issues..it was just hell..and from what i hear (someone could tell me if this is true..) since my tolerance is so high and such, if i was to go back even just once, it could reset myself into withdrawls as if i never stopped? im not sure of how true it is, though i can recall sometimes where i did stop for a few weeks and got back into it just one time n had withdrawls, i figured that was just the strenth of the oxy..this stuff isnt a joke n its hard for me because in my head i feel i am still young and young people do stupid things and do drugs, its part of life..and i think i need to learn how to get past that, we'll have to see (any help with that would be great).. good luck my man
