what di i DO TODAY

Yesterday i relate my whole story about being valium for 30 years.  I have been told by my old doctor a psych doctor and a pharmists not to go off after 30 years,62 years old and many helth problems.I just cant find a doctor to write the perscription they just say no and never even listen.  The time is getting close does anyone know of a group medical organization that can point me in the right direction.  During the 30 years I have never had a problem till now.  Granted i moved but I cant even discuss with somebody.  I have been thru one withdrawl and ended up in the hospital where i was put back on it.  Everyrthing was fine till I moved. I just pray for a miracle.  Thanks for all your support.  It must be ffunny seeing an old man like me in here.  I wish you all well and give you my heartfilled thanks.

I thank you all but cant pick a best answer.  They were all good and from the heart.  I just wish Dostors would loose their egos and understand any treatment is between the patiend and doctor not just the doctor
..
Again thank you all for the support and good luck.  I was very happy to see the support and how much you care about others.

Hi there,

Yes, you need to transfer your medical records to your new or prospective provider. You can not come off of valium cold turkey. This is the biggest problem. It needs to be tapered. Coming off of it inappropriatley can cause some serious health issues and i would think it your old doctors responsability to make sure you either have enough until you see your new provider or to taper you off the right way.

So yes, get on the phone as soon as possible and make sure one of these two things happen.

Best of luck to you. We are here for you. Keep posting...........

kajama has this one nailed, you have the right to expect that your old doctor will still help you, mine did, I am almost your age and, 62 just don't look that old, heck there are people here born in the 80's that are already 60's, it ain't the years it's the miles. Sounds like you can make it till tomorrow, and make a call, you'll be fine

That is the awesome thing about this place, it is for all people no matter what age you are. I am so sorry you are going through this. Where do you live and have you tried to google a place. I would think maybe contact your old doctor and tell him about the problems you are having and maybe he could call in your rx and then send you medical records to your new doctor. I believe in miracles so I will pray your situation works out for you
