I was busy grocery shopping etc last night, and just ran kids to school and work. I'm going home to burn the script...not because I'm tempted... but to make a symbolic commitment to NOT listening to everything doctors say!! This community has been far mire informed and helpful than the doctor when it comes to the real life information I need! The "Been there, done that" perspective keeps me on track and with God's help, in control. This is OUR destiny and we help each other significantly here. THANKS EVERYONE
You're making the right decision. Tramadol withdrawal makes hydrocodone withdrawal look like a day at beach! I've been through both, and I know. It's AWFUL! Just get rid of it. It's not even a good pain killer anyway! You'll end up having pain that is CAUSED by tramadol if you stay on it long enough.
Just get rid of it, and move on! BTW....sorry about the hands. Keep soaking them and using ice and heat and IBU. You'll get much more relief that way! :)
definitely burn that script. you don't need another problem because of the trams.
hope you feel better soon.
You will not regret this decision - I wish so much that I had done the same 15 years ago! You have worked hard to get where you are - hope you get some much deserved relief very soon :)
I was prescribed 30 pills, 50mg each. I have been getting some relief prior to the shots from 800mg motrin and epsom salt soaks. I think I'll go home and burn the script on the bbq grill!
I've been through the worst of the hydrocodone withdrawal and have worked so hard to not be insane in the process; it seems really self destructive to take another addictive agent.
I didn't realize the pain in my hands was contributing to the difficulty of getting off the hydro. Like, not being able to sleep because of the burning sensation. My hands are both numb now, and I think tonight I'll sleep well.
I think it's safe to assume the shot areas will be sore soon, but I'm just not going to take the stupid tramadol.
NOT WORTH IT!
Tramadol is a synthetic opiate with anti-depressant properties as well. It is very addictive and tolerance to it grows fast. When coming off of this you are essentially dealing with withdrawal from 2 meds; the painkiller and the AD. I started on Tramadol for back pain and took it as prescribed at first, but very quickly began taking too much as my tolerance built and I needed more and more of it to work. 15 years and 4 seizures (from overdoses) later, I finally quit and have been clean now for 5 months. This medication is dangerous and withdrawal from it is extremely hard; it does NOT let go easy. Please, please consider an alternative, and if not, at least proceed with extreme caution in using it. Good luck; hopefully the injections will start working very soon.
Try to stay away from the tramadol. It acts as a narcotic in the body and can be very addictive. I had the cortisone shots in my upper back and they did more damage than good. It's different for everyone though. I know a lot of people who have had success with injections. Give it a few days and see if the injections start working. Good luck!
Tramadol ***** worse than shots. Ive had 7 epidurals in under a year and countless cortisone shots in my elbows and shoulders. I have become addicted to other substances in my life, however. I didn't get any more pain relief than ibuprophen but when I went off the tramadol I had horrible withdraw. I'm sorry the shots hurt, pain is not fun but pain and addiction are worse. Hang in there.
how many did they give you? tramadol is addictive. it is a synthetic opiod..
