what to expect?

I've been taking hydrocodone 7.5/500 for about 6 or 7 weeks. I was originally prescribed this for pain I had from "Shingles", but for the past 10 days I've had no pain and have just been taking them because they make me feel so calm.

The last 8 days I have taken about 7 per day. I know I have to quit this.  What can I expect in terms of withdrawl symptoms if I quit completely?  What can I do to ease the withdrawl?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Try some Imodium for your tummy problems, take nice hot bath at night with epson salt and try melatonin for sleep. You have done a great job making it 7 whole days!Way to go.
Hope you start to feel better soon.

Good to hear you are off and doing okay.  Better now than later for sure...   I'm on day 12 of being clean and I got my first night of good sleep 2 nights ago and last night was even better, the fatique is setting in a little now but not bad til the afternoon, I'm also pregnant so that could be part of it.  Your imsomnia and fatigue should go away soon.  Hang in there, you'll be fine.  Good luck.

Well, I discontinued the hydrocodone after this posting, it has been about 7 days  now.  I still feel fatigued and have insomnia, but I didn't have anything really horrible.  Oh, and my lower intestines still aren't back to normal.

Thanks for the support

Don't be scared. Be glad you noticed the problem before it became a real problem. This way you can deal with it now... it won't be that bad. Just do it now and reclaim your life!

Sarah and Mommy thanks for the replies.  I think I'm scaring myself more than anything else.  I knew before I took them that they were addictive so I decided not to let this get out of hand.

I agree with Sarah1083, stop now while you still can. The longer it goes the harder it is. I'm trying to stop after 5 years of daily use. I'm at 78 hours clean and the w/d's suck but they won't kill you, especially if you've only been taking them for a couple of months. Taper down and stop, don't fill another prescription.

If you have only been on these for that short amount of time then get off now before you go on a 3 year whirlwind going down like I've been on.  Maybe taper down to a couple a day and then quit.  Your w/d's shouldn't be that bad at all.  Don't scare yourself about those.  Probably all you should expect is fatique, cold and hot flashes, using the restroom alot and maybe a little anxiety.  Basically you'll just be uncomfortable for a few days and a bit gripy I might add.  It shouldn't last but a few days and you'll be fine.  I'm on day 5 of being clean from taking Lorcets daily for 3 years.  At one time it was 25 per day.  I don't feel bad at all today, just the last few days weren't that great.  I'm on here a few times a day so if you need any support or have any questions you can message me.  Good luck.
