If I came to your house on a Sunday after noon to watch a football game for a few hours and pulled a bottle of 80mg Oxycotins out of my pocket and set it out on the coffee table and told you if you wanted a handful to feel free in your current situation would you take them or what would you do?

I don't know.... I would do one of two things, depending on who was dominating my mind at the time..  If Jenny 1 was in control, I'd tell you to leave and never fkng come back to my house.  If it was Jenny 2 I'd take em, and hate myself later, and hopefully get my *** to a meeting before they took me again, but who knows...  Avoid people, places, and things.

That is a powerful question. I know I wouldn't. When the doctor put me on them I became so upset with the oxy that I just suddenly quit, cold turkey. Mind you, I was only on them for a month but that was enough to make me addicted. I was sleeping most of the time, couldn't eat, became obnoxious and was angry with everyone. Then I went into withdrawal and became even angrier. Again I couldn't eat, lost eleven pounds, was paranoid, anxious, depressed was unable to sleep etc. With that kind of knowledge I would have picked up the bottle, walked over to the sink and began throwing them down one at a time. That would have been a message for the person that brought them and I imagine would never do it again. The person, no doubt would have rushed to the sink, grabbed the bottle out of my hand and disappeared into the distance. As some of you know doubt would, I would have considered it highly insulting. I am a complete sports buff. You put any sport on the tube and I will watch it with you, but don't degrade me by offering me drugs. I can't think of anything more degrading than to have someone look at you, think they have added you up and figured you couldn't live without the pills. Sure there are a lot of addicts, most of whom would give their souls to be free of it.Just don't add fuel to the fire by thinking you have me figured out and that I would bless you fot putting temptation in my way. Help me out, not in.

My wife has 60 10mg oxys in the house as we speak (she's tapering off of them) and I've managed not to touch a one, not to mention picked up a few vicodin scripts for her and not touched a one...today...I might have been tempted..but I don't think I'd really take one.

I think I would take one, but only one, just so that I'd feel safer going through the withdrawl process with a pregnant body, and stretch it out over the course of a week, only because up here, they cost over one hundred dollars each. And I'm ashamed to say it, I wish I could quit cold turkey, but trying that I realize that this demon pill has a hold of my body, if it was just my mind, I may have been able to kill it by now.

That is the key to it all not even thinking about it if you find loose pills flush them right away don't let them sit.......if someone comes over and offers them to you throw them and there pills out right away dont hesitate.........

earlier today I read this and I wanted to believe that I wouldn't want to take anything but I wasn't really sure.  then just a few minutes ago I found a 10mg Norco and 3 Oxycontin 20mg under the bed/nightstand while cleaning out and I flushed them without any hesitation.  My emotion was one of disgust that I was so addicted.  So I think I can say I wouldn't take any but I also know that this disease is very slick and you can never let you guard down or get lazy - that's how I lost 13 year clean and sober - I forgot I was powerless and tried to control my intake - for two years until I found this site, remembered what I'd learned in AA and then got back on track.

Good question...making people think how they would handle a situation.  I like it.
Like Mary said, we have already been in such a situation. But I will add to that, I was having a very bad weekend when our friend stayed at my house, was not happy that she offered but let it drop. I didn't have the energy to go off on her.  If it was to happen now, she might be escorted out the door with her pills shoved up her as s. I know friends really don't want to hurt and don't understand addiction, but if they have been warned not to offer them.....A friend would respect that.

I would have to decline also and they were my doc also.  I will never forget the h e ll i went through to get off these evil little pills.  I would probably warn you not to take them also.  I never took 80 at once so that would have scared me even if i was still taking them.  I was happy to see all the no's you got, that is encouraging.

you'd have to get past my dog first ,lol!.  Just kidding.  I've already been tested-- I found some pills in my kitchen drawer while I was preparing for a small dinner party.  I flushed them.  I'd like to think I'd be just as strong if faced with the decision again.  I can't even conceive of repeating that withdrawal nightmare ....

i would have to run out the door screaming & crying.  then my mind would fixate.  the end result i could not promise either way.  i could get something today if i wanted (i am day 4), rather easily, and i am not.  but having them right in front of me?  ouch.

I have many life long friends that have Vic's and Perc's in there houses at all times. They don't take them on a daily basis and never abuse them...yet.  All of them know of my addiction but I have no doubt if I am hurting ( physically) they would offer.  Even though I have explained my addiction as best I can > I know they don't really get it.   I really feel now that it is my respocibility to stay clean. I love my friends and know they don't mean to hurt me.
