what's the best way to quit vicodin.. ???

2 days off ..starting to feel w/d and tried Thomas recipe will tomorrow suck even more..??? on a normal basis it would be 7 to 8 a night SNORTING them and now me and my friend are trying to quit he did pick up some Valium which was said on the recipe and it took some of the w/d away ..i am not worried about the Valium as i never liked benzo just snorting pain killers so any advice would be greatley appreciated..THANK YOU ALL...

i just want to add that my expirience with melatonin has helped me get a LITTLE bit more sleep during withdrawal, not a ton, but every little bit helps. I take 6 mgs, 2 regulars or 1 extra strength, there is another one I saw at the pharmacy that has like 11 mgs and some other natural ingrediants but I haven't tried it yet, I plan on picking some up today as I start my withdrawal tomorrow (5 norco 10/660 a day, all at once). I always started to feel better at the end of day 4 or begining of day 5 (I've withdrawn a bunch of times from a few different things alcohol, benzos, vicodin, all under medical supervision), I call day 4 the top of the mountain, it's gotten to it's worse and you start to slowly get better after that. I'm not saying you'll feel awesome on day 5, but a lot better than day 3, less and less symptoms after that. Great job on getting to day 2! You're doing great!

I think this big pretty much covered it all!  I just wanted to add my support, and ask how you are doing now?  I think on this forum they took the valium out of the Thomas Recipe.  I've used it in the past during withdrawals for sleep and while it did help, it also seemed to just add to the lethargy and depression.  If you can get by without it, then please do.

Hey man, Yes the next 2 days are probably going to be just as bad if not worse. Below is a list of things that helped me. I copy and pasted it from a message to someone else. Others will probably add to it.Good luck man


RLS (restless leg syndrome), (twitchy legs and arms)

1) There's two products made by Hylands brand. *Hylands restful legs and *Hylands leg cramp. Get both if you can. You can find them at Walgreens and Walmart.
2) Any food high in potassium. I ate a TON of *bananas. They are easy to get down and keep down.Also Walmart has a 3 in 1 *Potassium,Magnesium,Zinc Multi. I just used Potassium and Magnesium by itself .
3) *Tonic water. it has quinine(sp) in it which i've heard is good for RLS. I mixed it with cranberry juice because, well... it tasted like **** by itself..lol

DIARRHEA(its gonna happen)

I've used *Amodium AD in the past with great results. Use it if you need it, dont if you dont. Drink PLENTY of fluids. Its real easy to get dehydrated.

ACHES AND PAINS

1)I liked *Advil. Its nothing but Ibeprofen(sp) 800 mgs is the RX dose. I've never had a problem taking 4-200mg tabs. You may wanna check with the pharmacy. Its nothing like an opiate, but it DOES help.
2)HOT, HOT as you can stand baths and/or showers. Add *Ebsom salt to the tub if you have access to one. It forces the Magnesium into your muscles. Take as many as you need. On day three i took like 8 showers and did 4 soaks..lol..Dont underestimate these soaks and showers!! They help on more level than one!!

HOT AND COLD FLASHES

I found a heating blanket and heating pad to be my best friend..lol. I couldn't keep my feet warm to save my life..the heating pad did wonders.And again HOT showers help even for hot flashes.

INSOMNIA

This is a tricky one...I dont think there is anything on the market that will make you sleep those first few days, RX or OTC. I did take *Advil PM at night( only 2 pills). I slept very little those first few days. I did read somewhere about this stuff called "super snooze melitonin". It may be worth checkin out. I'll try and find the thread and give you the link. The poster said it worked wonders. Be prepared to not sleep. Dont fight it, it just makes it worse. Get some funny movies and cuddle up on the sofa. Just take what little sleep you can get. Sleep comes back i promise. Insomnia lingers a little longer than the other symptoms.Get a good *multi vitamin. I used Mega Man sport from GNC.. Its fairly inexpensive. Start this and all other vitamins asap to get them in your system. This wont help you sleep :( but, i didnt know where else to put it.


Again this stuff just takes the edge off, but every little bit helps. You need to exercise as much as possible. Even if you dont feel like it. Just a short pointless walk around the house if thats all you can manage. Just keep moving as much as possible. try not to sit around.Try and stay busy. Make a list of small tasks that can easily be completed. Clean your baseboards, clean out a closet, stuff like that. Who cares if it take 2 hrs to do them. Just do something to keep your mind off the monster.
