withdrawal and seizures

Hi, I have been taking 8/50mg tramadol daily for almost 2 years-except for 3 or 4 failed attempts at quitting. I was wondering if I am still in danger of having a seizure- it has been 7 days

I don't think you're still in danger - however if you have other medical issues than that has to be taken into consideration.

But I can tell you I quit the trams over a year ago cold turkey from up to 25 pills a day - so I'm guessing it was sheer luck alone that it didn't kill me.

You'll get through this - and the best part is TRAMADOL will no longer be running your life.  Good luck to you!  :)

I think you hit the nail on the head saying it robs you of your soul! That is exactly how I feel. I'm just so happy that my personality and intellect were restored. On tramadol I could never find the words I was looking for-so I avoided major conversations. How awful!!!
It's good to know it gets better with time- I do great it the morning and evening but mid to late afternoons are the hardest.
I have also been through opiate withdrawal and find tram tobe MUCH more intense and lingering.
thanks for the words of encouragement!:)

Oh g-d I know exactly how you're feeling.  Trams DO suck - (yeah let the moderators delete that word whatever) - but they do.

It was the strangest withdrawal of my life - and I had been on other opiates over the years for different health issues and the withdrawal from those was nothing compared to the tramadol withdrawal (for me at least - I know we're all different).  But I can totally relate to what you're talking about.

You definitely lose who you are and forget completely about the things you used to care about.  It literally robs you of your soul (maybe a little dramatic but it sure felt like that0.  Just the worst!

But I can not end this post without saying CONGRATULATIONS on 14 (actually I think it's 15 now right?) days - that is FANTASTIC.  And I promise you it gets better with time - it was a slow recovery for me too but worth every single second.

thanks Debbie!
definitely taking care of myself physically- plus taking long walks and getting some vigorous exercise daily.I know I'm improving-however slow. The first week is literally a blur/it was horrible! I think the anxiety was the worst part of all of this. Having regained my true personality is the biggest gift- on tramadol my whole essence was gone-no passion for anything-and I knew this, but didn't care. I was prescribed tramadol after hurricane Katrina- for sciatica. It was just what I needed after having lost so much- made it bearable. When the prescription ran out,I was introduced to the dreaded internet pharmacy. I quit for 9 months because I was pregnant, but the minute I had the baby I was back on it- didn't even breastfeed her- I will always have to live with that! I definitely have lots of issues I should address with a therapist!

It really made me not care about anything, but I can't say that I was truly"happy." What a strange substance it is- wish it had never crossed my path!!! I can't imagine going ct off 25 /day. The pain from going off of 8 was incredible. The anxiety, sadness, ugh. I wouldn't wish it on anyone!!!

I wouldn't think so if you've made it to day 7.  What I would do is post that same question on the Doctor Forum under "Addiction".

Good Luck and Stay Strong!!
