i am on day 3 of withdraws... i was taking 90-120mg a day of oxycodone for 2 years. I tried to get soboxone from the VA with no luck the one dr. who handles it is on vacation. i just want to know am i passed the worse or is their more to come. Should i go try to get zanex or something from the VA to help? Thanks
Thanx and congrats! Just dumped them all, went for a walk, took a shower and started praying! I'll keep you all updated and thank you for everything!
Immodium, bananas (potassium), tylenol cold & flu, B12 and showers...I'm on day 13 and the worst of the physical withdrawals faded away around day 6-7. Sleep is a little slower but I am sleeping around 5-6 hours at a time. Just remember, it took a while to get to where you are, it will take a while to get back to "normal". I agree with the rest, your dosage is so low now, I would just stop altogether because your already dealing with the worst of it. Good luck, it does get better.
Thanx for the advice. I never heard of the Thomas Recipe so I will look up now. Just dumped 110 Percs and 20 Avinza.....God and all of you good people are what I have now! Just went for a walk and your right.....does help! I'll keep you posted. My husband is the only one who knows and doesn't quite get it.....my kids think I'm just a _itch! I just wished I had known this a year ago! Thanx again guys!
Thank you! What back pain! This is 10 times worse.....never again!
Have you checked out the "Thomas Recipe"? I believe it can be found on this site, and if not you can google it. I don't recommend you keep taking the percs because from what I understand, it only prolongs the WD's. The most important thing that helped me with my WD's were sitting in a tub full of HOT HOT HOT water. I sat in the tub for a couple of hours and kept refilling it with as hot of water as I could stand. It made such a huge difference. Also, exercise helps! You may not feel like doing squat, but if you can muster any energy whatsoever to go for a walk or jog, it WILL help. You will need vitamins (preferably amino acids), lots of water and immodium for cramping/diarrhea. I also took NyQuil to help me sleep, (although some would say not to because it's self medicating) but I just can't function without sleep, so I drank a little.
I hope all this helps, and if not, just keep posting away! You will get lots of useful information on here from some really awesome people who have been right where you are! Good luck!
Yeah, sleep may be a problem for awhile. I hope things get better for you real soon. Just stay determined, it isn't easy but it is doable. Post us updates when you're up to it and let us know how you are doing. Try the sleep-time , chamomile teas and see if anything from the Thomas recipe that you can take.

I wish you luck! be strong and dont look back!
Thanx for your reply! I am taking aleve and benadryl also. I don't care about diarrhea because honestly it's nice to not be constipated....gross, sorry! I just wish for sweet sleep...benadryl isn't helping! Wish me luck because here goes nothing! I will keep you updated!
Thank you, Thank you! I needed a light @ the end of the tunnel. If I understand you I have been withdrawing all along? I thought I was sabitaging my recover by giving in every 8-10 hours with 1/2 a 10/325 mg perc and was going to be @ stage 1 when I stopped! If your right (I won't hold you 2 it!) It should be able to stop all tomorrow! I'm so excited I am about to cry.....thanx for the hope!
You seem to be down to a pretty low intake. You might want to jump off them now and get this all over with. The w/d needs to be done since you are already experiencing it now with small intake every 8-10 hrs. Have someone get you some immodium, otc pain meds. I wish you had some Clonidine and a few tranzene to cut in halves. This helped me on days 2,3,& 4. The muscle aches sometime hang on so hot baths and showers, a heating pad. Hugs and best wishes

I am only a student in addiction recovery, so I don't know everything- but going from the dose you were taking to cutting a 10mg perc in 1/2 every 8-10 hours- it isn't coming close to delivering the amount you need to avoid W/D symptoms, so I would say if you were cold turkey from here on out, you wouldn't feel any worse than you do now because you weren't putting enough opiate in your body to fill the empty brain receptors anyway.Hope this helped!
Thanx for answering me so soon. So do you think if I stopped "cold Turkey" tomorrow I will have an easier time now? It's only the physical that's killing me...and keeping hubby up all night while trying to do this without my 13 year old noticing....jeez.....I will never c/o back pain again!
This is probably your worst day, perhaps tomorrow. From now on the physical stuff will get better daily- however the mental stuff will go on for a long time.Be prepared!
