I am an addict as well ( 30mg roxies), I've been fighting for 4 years and just recently found out I am 6 weeks pregnant. I TOTALLY understand what you are going thru...physically, mentally and emotionally. I want nothing more than to have a happy healthy baby but it is definitely a struggle to not use. I've been trying to taper off ciggs and pills since I found out, but it is nice to find someone who understands what I am going thru. I know my family and BF are here for me and want to help me, but I am feeling sooooo depressed ( I've been on meds for depression and anxiety for years and stopped those too because I was told they are bad for pregnancy ) and having withdrawls while going thru severe morning sickness is awful. Most days I just want to give up, but I keep pushing forward. If u ever need/want to talk I would love to have someone I can relate to around. :-) good luck!! We can do this!

Tifferz14: thank you very much for ur advise. I will definately do some research. It really suck because i dont go back to the dr for another week and a half. I have not told her yet because i havent seen her since the day we found out. So much was on my mind at that time and in all honesty i thought i could do it on my own. Ive tried to get in to see her since because i was beginning to withdrawl with cutting down so much so fast. I was almost suicidal bt she was "all booked up"  again thank you so much

I am an opioid addict have been clean less then a year I'm 13 weeks pregnant, i wanted to tell you so you don't think I'm judging in anyway but you need to get on suboxone or subutex the worse thing you could do for that baby is withdrawal in any way specially if you are stopping caffeine, nicotine and opioid all at once. Just make sure no one puts you on methadone because the baby will withdrawal from that when born a lot of people will disagree with the suboxone or subutex treatment but do some research on it before you believe judgemental people. I really hope I have helped good luck.

Congratulations,  I realize that this must be very stressful for you, but we women do our best work in the most stressful situations.  You must realize that you are not the only one in this predicament. We get this question on this forum over and over again from wonderful caring women who want to have healthy babies. You must talk to your OB/GYN or find one ASAP.  They treat many women in exactly the same situation. They will help you, because abrupt withdrawal may well be dangerous for the pregnancy.
You may be able to slowly taper the pills off. Your baby will withdraw slowly with you without any problems as long as you do it under close supervision of your obstetrician or midwife. If you are able to be off of all the opiates by the 20th week of pregnancy, then the newborn's meconium (stool) will be drug free if they should test it.  As you will taper yourself slowly by spacing out the pills and decreasing dosage, the baby will also withdraw slowly and safely together with you as long as it is done under close watch of the OB or the midwife.
This way, by your third trimester or certainly by the time of the delivery both you and the baby are clean and ready to start healthy bonding and nursing.
The OB/midwife will also be there to guide you though good prenatal care, healthy nutrition, smoking cessation, etc..
Good luck to you, motherhood is a career full of joys and pain, but we all do it for the joy of it...
P.S. Please read my blog on Pregnancy and Addiction by clicking on name in blue and then on blogs. Good luck to you and your growing family. You must take care of yourself for your baby.
