WOW!!! I have been taking 6-8 xanax a day for the past 4 years.... started to taper off of them but obviously not slow enough and ended up having a seizure. I have been off of them for 4 weeks and am in the process of testing to make sure Xanax was the cause. I have heard of Dr.s putting people back on it temporarily to ween them off properly, and then try another method like Tegretol and Klonopin to assist with side effects or having another Seizure, and or also give them meds to prevent seizure period. Similar to what people with epilepsy take who have multiple seizures. I can't and do not understand why a Dr. would put anyone on Xanax for life. Your friend may need a 2nd opinion for her own health and safety. Good luck to you both.
Dear Dodidude,
Benzodiazepine withdrawals can cause seizures as you already experienced. Please do not try to go through the withdrawal without proper medical assistance again. Seizures could be very dangerous and as you know that you are prone to it because from your past. Regarding exercise, please do not put your body through any more stress than its already going through while withdrawing.
I hope you have a safe detoxification.
That doesnt sound too good for me...
My friend tryed to quit taking xanax and she done the same thing and now she has to take them forever cause she has to have them or she will have seizure everyday. So the doctor said she would have to take them everyday but only 2mg a day. She takes one in morning and one in the late afternoon.
