Morphine Infant

I got pregnant in 2010 with my first son and was using oxycotoin, soon as i found out i wss pregnant i got on methadone. When he was born i was on 95ml and he came out fine and only scored up to 2. I have been on methadone since then and just had another boy that was born jan 29 2014, i was on 75ml and his score was all the way to 15 before they decieded to put him on morphine. I am so worried and concerned about him coming off it, i kno its only micrograms but still dont want him having any wuthdrawls at all. I feel like a horrible mom but if i could have got off it with pregnant with him i would havr, but my doctor told me not to because it coulda harmed him and put him at a risk which i didnt wamt to do. I guess my question is have any of you beem thriugh the same thing and your baby was sucessful coming off of ot and didnt have any wuthdrawls after being weined off?

You wrote this on the Expert forum. This question should be placed on a general addiction forum. I have several blogs on pregnancy and addiction you might want to read. Your baby will go though some withdrawals as it is weaned, but they usually do a good job in the NICU. Good luck to you.

I have no children but my best friend had her child while on methadone. She is a bright and healthy 7 year old girl today. Your baby may have to suffer for your mistakes but that by no means defines you as a bad mother. Miracles do happen. Best of luck to you and your family.
