I'm quiet young and I've smoked marijuana for 2-3 years I'm a young adult and I'm about 5-6weeks pregnant if I continue to smoke will it effect my baby has it effected my baby already? I only found out I was pregnant 3 week's ago I need help because I worried that if I just stop cold turkey will that put any stress on my unborn child.

Not only is the action of smoking itself is detrimental to the health of the baby, but we do not know how cannabis intake can affect the developing brain.I understand that smoking is extremely addictive, but there are certain things we do for our kid that are very hard, and one of them is being pregnant, taking care of our bodies while pregnant and nursing (and I am not even talking about giving birth!).  That is only the start of a difficult life of a parent. So, let me give you the facts that you probably already know, but they are important to repeat.
Smoking while pregnant will:
Lower the amount of oxygen and nutrient available your growing baby.
Increase your baby's heart rate.
Increase the chances of miscarriage and stillbirth.
Increase the risk that your baby is born prematurely and/or born with low birth weight.
Increase your baby's risk of developing respiratory (lung) problems.
Second hand smoke has been shown to be just as harmful.
Cannabis has been shown to lower the user's IQ (intelligence)  by about 10 points, so it is most likely negatively affects fetal brain development.
I do hope that you are eating right and exercising but you also want to stay away from all unneeded drugs and alcohol while you are pregnant and nursing or mothering young children. Stopping abruptly will not hurt your baby.  Please take good care of yourself and that way you can be sure you are taking the best care of your child.

I smoked weed probably once a week my entire pregnancy. It helped with the nausea and helped me sleep when I couldn't. I know have a perfectly healthy six month old baby girl. I smoked cigarettes before I got pregnant but never while I was pregnant.  As, to me, they seem much more harmful.  I was told by my doctor not to quit smoking cold turkey because the stress you will endure from that is more likely to harm the baby then the smoking itself. The baby does not get the most harmful part which is the crap you are inhaling into your lungs; just the nicotine, or in this case HTC. I am not telling you to light up a blunt everyday but a happy you makes a happy baby.(in this case)  So occasionally when you are stressed from feeling nauseous or lack of sleep, calm yourself with something natural.  In my eyes its gods Xanax with no harmful side effects.  Again, just my opinion. Only you as a mom can decide what is best for you and your baby. Congratulations by the way! it's the best feeling in the world. Good luck!

I am pretty sure you are referring to Methamphetamine or "Meth" and that you are poorly trying to support the debunked "gateway drug" debacle.

I would highly recommend that you refrain from smoking tobacco during pregnancy, the dangerous part about smoking cannabis is inhaling burning plant matter, not the cannabis. Not to contradict Dr. Julia, but the alleged "dangers" of cannabis have thus far been thoroughly debunked, there has been no recent unbiased studies to support the outlandish claims made by most orthodox doctors.

marijuana is not supposed to have withdrawal symptoms bad enough to effect the baby. it is probably more of a habit for you.  i would just stop.
when i found out i was pregnant EVERYTHING i was taking was stopped.  at least while the baby is inside you. please

Smoking is malefic for pregnant lady because it not only affect mother but is also disasters for unborn baby. It may develop heart issue or smaller lungs. Consult your doctor. He will advise you in a better way.
