i am in the 3rd day of detoxing from pain killers (percocet/ lortab) and so far have been taking klonopin at night to help me sleep and ease the anxiety. it is helping but makes me even more sluggish, and i obtained them illegally through a friend. today my dr gave me valium which i hear has the same effects byt this time it is prescribed (limited) i also have heard about soboxone (not sure if i am spelling it right) and that it can all buy diminish the w/d effects, but have also heard that it is some narley stuff and no better than the pain killers i was taking and that after im done will have to detox from that!!!!! can someone give me the the facts? also how long it takes after detox for motivation/energy to return and are there things i can do to help?

Nalaxone is the generic form of narcan and it is only in the suboxone and is used to prevent injection. I don't know what area either of you are from but where I live in VA we have to go to a psychiatrist to get subs. However I do know that many pain management docs also have the ability to write for it too. As for pharmacy costs it is pretty expensive (approximately $8-10 per pill) but you can get a partial. As far as the limited quantity of thirty I haven't had that experience. My prescription is for 120 and that is a month supply and i go to Rite Aid. Maybe that all depends on the strength and what form you get it in whether pill or film. There may be other Dr's around where you live who can prescribe but just don't advertise it. I looked online and called around to rehab/detox facilities to find Dr's who could prescribe and
were accepting patients. I only have a $40 visit as well. Shame on the $500 visit docs! That's insane!

It is actually naloxone in suboxone that can potentially be harmful for a pregnany but if your not pregnant its safe. They're are several doctors that charge cheap on a visit. Also the prescription comes in a month supply and you DO NOT have to puck up the whole prescription at a time if you go to a family pharmacy. A chain pharmacy will only let you pick up 30 at a time. Trust me if you go to the right doc it is not expensive. My doc charges 40 dollars a visit when others charge up to 500 just for q visit. Just call around. You'll find someone.

I have heard good thing s about it as long a out is used correctly and not abused (and trust me I have learned my lesson) my only problem is there are only 2 sub drs in my area and both are outrageously expensive $500-800 for a3 month treatment, and that is my house payment! I just can't pull that kind of $ out of thin air.i don't know what to do

Oh I'm sorry. I may have posted in the wrong place...it was my first post. Oops! No I don't think you took the cowards way out be cause you did what u thought was best for u which in turn was best for ur baby. I had an abortion 8 years ago so i know how much regret and blame is carried with that decision. I had mine because of health reasons but there is always that thought of what if in my mind. I have now gotten to a place of healing and I know i did what was best although it doesn't always feel that way. As for the suboxone its a great idea and will help u get ur life back. Its just a medication but with it comes lots of work and commitment to getting sober and if u use it correctly and take ur recovery seriously it will be one of the best decisions u can make and u don't have to worry about just being taken off like with opiates. The sub docs will taper u down as they see fit and u are part of that decision as well. The best thing i can tell u is what my Dr told me and that was to just take it day by day and know that tomorrow can be better if u want it to be. It feels great to not have to worry about pills! Good luck!

I am 28 weeks and have been on subutex since I was 8 weeks preggers. It is the same as suboxone but without arcane which is dangerous for fetus. The withdrawal is not good for the baby and can cause spontaneous abortion( miscarriage ). I know that what ur going through is difficult because I am right there with you but this is a time to focus on urself and baby and do ur best to get ur life back on track. I am a nurse as well as someone who has fallen prey to painkillers. Finally I am working on myself while keeping my baby safe. The first person you need to tell is ur ob/gyn. I know that u may not want to but I promise u will not be their first patient to be an addict. They can help you as well as set u up with the
right doctors. I see my ob doc, psychiatrist, and a substance abuse counselor to prevent returning to pills post delivery. On subutex u do not have the cravings for pills and can focus on why u ever started ( in my case it was pain from back injury but then became a necessity). As far as becoming addicted it depends on if u take the medication correctly. I may take 4 mgs one day then 8 another but it's exactly what is prescribed or less and I am very honest with my Dr. I would advise u to take the least amount possible. Please feel free to ask any questions. I know I had plenty! I wish u the best!
