I am so glad that you are ready to quit Methadone, but switching to Subutex is just going from one devil to another. People find it just as difficult to taper and quit. Subutex is essentially the same medication as Suboxone. Most people find it difficult to come of Suboxone altogether, but it is possible if you taper it down to 1mg and then continue titrating it down to as little as 1/2mg, 1/4mg and even 1/8mg. One of the patients in our clinic, who we had to detox from Suboxone, was so addicted, that no matter how far down she titrated this drug she could not get off. At one point she was literally just licking the 1mg strip, but she could not give it up. I find that most have the same problem with both of these drugs.
Tramadol has similar issues as you can read in my blogs and especially in the comments people leave. Please take time to read those before you make your final decision. You can reach my blogs by clicking my name in blue, and than blogs. Reads through them, read the comments. Go to me website and read the testimonials of patients who have been in your situation, they are real and heartfelt. Good luck to you. You can always come back with more questions.
Tramadal does help subside withdrawals BUT they are just as addicting as anything else.. If your going to do it right & YOU ARE READY TO QUIT, then do the suboxine. It is also addicting too, but as you said it does have a blocker.. As well as it does sound, you have to be committed to weaning yourself down! Or you will become addicted to it also!! I know this.. Been through it all. I am 21 years old & just found out I'm pregnant.. I had no clue I was pregnant and was taking suboxine, weaning.myself down on my own, I bought them off the street because.I had no medical coverage at the time.. If you can do this and have the will power, do it now because I have been an addict since I was 16 do to a car accident.. 5 years and I did it!! Not only for my baby, but for me.. It takes your life away, period! Good luck to you & God bless!! Stay strong!!
