Addison's suspected....

I am a IDD diabetic (type-1) 38yrs , CKD-3, with RRMS (Multiple Sclerosis) 50+, psoriasis and Hx of Rheumatic Fever .
Back last year, my MS Dr noted my walking etc had declined. Back around Feb 20+/- I fell due to my legs just giving out. It was nothing like my usual occasional MS related falls. I had large bruises, back and side, caused an internal bleeding of an adrenal. A few days later I started feeling off (my usual). Then I had a TLOC/Syncope and fell flat on my face. I looked like I had been beaten up, destroying my glasses.  I ended up in ER and admitted for a couple days.

I had been told to watch my adrenal function close. Another week or so later, I had a quite high BG of 284, which I corrected with 4units of rapid insulin. Instead of dropping my BG by about 115-120 points, that 4 unit dropped my to 60 or over 200 points!  Then a day or so after that my fasting dropped and I had to re figure all my insulin factors. I have always been insulin sensitive, but this new alter-world is crazy. I was spending less than 1/2 my time in BG range, 32% high and a whopping 20% HYPO. My carb ratio went from 1u:15g & CF 1u=28-30.  to 1u:30g & CF to 1u=55! (I am a carb counter on MDI) and HAD been very stable for over a decade, till this.

I asked my Fam Doc for adrenal function testing. Instead of a ACTH stim test, he ordered a Cushing's/suppression test. Dumb move, Cushing's would have caused my BG to go sky highm not low/hypo! When that came back Neg, he did a referral to an endo, who ordered a basic AM cortisol  just a couple days after the Cushing's test. Of course that test came back with a am cortisol of 18 (normal, but done too soon) & told NO way any adrenal issues. (no comment on the elevated acth level).

MY VA doc ordered a ACTH stim test, the VA lab refused, but did a basic cort level, came back at 11 (normal range). Then my VA doc had a ACTH stim test done at a local COBOC. My 30 min cort level DID NOT double, but since it was over 18 the VA endo clinic told my VA pcp, NO way could it be an adrenal issue, because it was over 18, even though it did not double.

Iin the mean time, I am in a new HELL. A fatigue different from MS, nausea and feel like crap almost all day. I can only phsyicaly move for short, 15-20 minutes at a time, then have to take a La-Z-Boy break or nap, then ready to go for another very short spell. Now my legs give out, collapse once in a while & I fall. The last one, A few days ago I fell in front of a car in a parking lot.  The driver stopped, & got out to help me up.

I also had a recent bout of severe diarrhea ( ER again) dehydration, & my skin has a few new markings, maybe age related? Some very light areas & lines with some dark spots as well. The dark areas seem to be overtaking the near white / light areas' was told the very light areas are just thinning skin ad the darker areas were bruises.( do have bruises, but to me, some do not look anything like bruises. Anywho, it beats me, but I am getting tired of being too tired to enjoy the grandkids

After 38 years of battling high blood sugars, this "BRITTLE" (medic called my diabetes that) business of chasing hyper & hypos is maddening! Not one DR wants to even bother finding what the CAUSE is, none are doing PROPR testing either.

PS, for TWO days after the one time dexamethasone dose for Suppression test, I felt my pre-falls/hospitalization normal, then crashed big time!

Thanks for any insight. I just want this mad mess to STOP!
