sorry for your difficulties, you now have to do everything differently - you have to do less. physically that is. sometimes resting
doesn't seem to help, but it does. also improve nutrition and maybe switch to filtered water. you might avoid what some of us here are describing - near total immobility and low quality of life. yes the dr Wilson book i also recommend.
IF YOU CAN, cut down on work... before you're forced to stop altogether. it sounds like fatigue syndrome... take care
Right now I am in such a condition that I really can't even sit up at the computer for more than an hour without having to rest. If I get up and walk too fast I get short of breath and start to have asthma problems. I've been on Prednisone now for about a month, and am having difficulty managing the day on less than 90 mg.
I"m taking all the vitamins and supplements, and have improved over what it was a month ago. From what I'm reading here the key is REST rest rest rest.....and then gradually increasing what you do. I have to learn to simply sit down and REST or go back to bed at the first sign of being tired.....
I sure relate...
I'm the same too. I overdo and am paying for it for days. Most days I feel like i'm 90 and have for years now. I thnk a lot has to do with how much you do in one day and how slowly you try to build up your stamina. I know I need to work on this with warmer weather coming on. I want to get out and be outside but know i've got to do it on a slower track. I have been reading an interesting book called "Adrenal Fatigue: The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by: James L Wilson. It's been a VERY interesting read. Lots of AWESOME info in it.
I feel your pain, I'm 50 and feel like 90. I have hashimoto's making me hypothyroid and subsequently developed adrenal fatigue - I believe triggered by chronic insomnia I've had for little over a year now. I loved working out, up until 12/09. Fatigue then hit me like a ton of bricks. I used to do aerobics 3 xs a week and I always had enough energy and stamina for anything. Working out was always so effortless, now I can barely get myself out of bed in the morning. I've even had to quit work for now. I'm going to consult with my doc regarding discontinuing thryoid meds, maybe start taking iodine, and see what happens - this may give my adrenals a break.
The answer to adrenal fatigue is not exercise, but curing the fatigue. I am doing very well with vitamin B5 (1000 mg. daily) and am improving steadily. Soon I plan to join an exercise class.
One thing I am discovering is the recovery is a long slow process.
Lots of activity on one day = rest another... I can relate...
If you work up to it - like yoga, after a while, you should get better as long as your muscles are good, then you should build stamina.
Vitamins etc. too will help - like the Bs, D3, etc.
I am sure others will contribute.
