Low normal blood Cortisol level but no treatment???

My level was a 7. I have no energy by 3-6pm. All I can do is sit on the couch all night, but since the ACTH came back normal, I can't get any help. Is this common? Has anyone else had this and actually been treated??

Rumpled, I saw a reputable endo today. He said my 7 was fine... I'm fine. No problems with adrenals. Thyroid numbers are fine. So it must be my sleeping... I have been ordered to have a sleep study... I seriously doubt that anything will come from it.

Hmmm... from what I know, high cortisol increases progesterone

"In conclusion, elevated cortisol concentrations from the onset of standing oestrus increase progesterone concentrations and prolong the interval between oestradiol and LH peaks to ovulation, the latter possible due to an early decline in oestradiol concentrations and a change of the LH peak outline. The effect these hormonal changes have on reproductive performance need to be further investigated. Saliva samples might be a useful and non-invasive method to assess cortisol concentrations in sows."

I know that when I was testing and I was taking estrogen, estrogen will bind to free cortisol (saliva and urine) making those tests lower than they really are...

ACTH can be low due to the test tube being put into the bin instead of the centrifuge - was it put, while you were sitting there, into a centrifuge? And was it a chilled tube? If not, the test was inaccurate from the get go.

I would get off the supplements, and get another re-test. Anything you are on can impact testing. Also, make sure they do the ACTH correctly.

The AM range is 6-25 or something like that.
It was taken around 7 or 8 am.
I was fasting for around 8-12 hours.
I also was on progesterone suppliments from another doctor and this endocrinologist did NOT tell me to stop taking them. Which she should have... since it increases cortisol levels...
Tomorrow I have an appt w/ a reputable endo... I really hope he does something.

What was the range, and what time was it taken?
Were you fasting?
Did they do the test more than once?
