Abdominal discomfort

So my name is Chris and I am 25 years old.  Unfortunately I live in a big college town so the most popular thing to do is drink- and lots of it.  I don't drink as much as I used too, but do go out on occasion (1 or twice a week).  I drink alot when I am out.  I get terrible hangovers. KILLER HANGOVERS.  I am very good at eating lots of food and drinking copious amounts of water to restore my body.    I also have moderate hypoglycemia that I ahve been dealing with for a few years now.  Anyway- just recently, I have developed this tender area under my lower left ribcage.  It feels like swelling.  It doesn't hurt- just is annnoying and uncomfortable.  I do drink lots of decaf tea- usually mint.  Am I suffereing from a disorder of my pancreas or liver? I need answers and or at least theories!

im pretty sure your liver has the least amount of nerves in your your body. usually you wont feel your liver hurt but if you got alcoholic hepatitis you could feel it pushing on other organs. you could have that but i strongly dought it. just get some blood draw and ask ask for the lft result and youwill know whats up. hepatitis only mean swelling of the liver so dont think im saying you have an std or anything haha.

I wouldn't think this to be cause for great alarm. Keep in mind that the liver is a very quiet organ. My liver enzymes were way off from drinking much more than you describe, and I never had any pain. The pain you describe is most likely caused by something fairly harmless like a pulled muscle or something of the like.. I do reccomend seeing your family doctor to sort this out. It is highly unlikely that drinking the amounts that you describe would be causing this kind of discomfort.

Go to your local health food store and get milk thistle. It helps cleanse the liver and helps to fight cirrhosis. The hypoglycemia also weakens the liver and the milk thistle combo will help. I would stop drinking for a couple of weeks and try the combo to see if anything improves. If it doesn't or gets worse go to the doctors and have it checked. It would probably be wise to also moderate your drinking even more since your liver is weak. You do not want problems later on, getting old is enough of a pain without adding to it. Best wishes.

Heres a suggestion.....go to ur family doctor...be totally honest w/him/her about ur drinking behaviors and ur concerns...ask for a fasting CBC bloodwork panel.....and see what shape ur liver is in!
