Quitting Beer

Recently I started tracking all of the business an social events I have been at with alcohol involved and noted that I have steadily "trained" for alcohol intake the last 15 years.   I would prefer to just cut it all off but of course there is always a holiday, birthday, event or something else that either prolongs it or delays quitting.  What is an effective way to just say "I am done with drinking?"  I am not big on the AA 12 step approach but would like to find a method to pick a date and just end it.

i got sick and tired of blackouts hangovers loss of control drug use on top of alcohol....drunk driving.....i knew i was out of control and there was no way i would ever control my drinking....no OFF switch....went to many stores looking for one...none in stock....hahahah!so i went in2 inpatient treatment in 1983.....went to AA/NA.....it was a helluva committment i made to myself and i didn't care what anyone else thought...and no wet parties no old friends..they weren't really friends...just partying buds.....11-22 will be 25 years sober/clean 4 me.....hard to believe.....but i really like my life 2 day!U have to feel DEEP in the pit of ur soul that u r alcoholic...and that the party is over.....really over......and u go from there!

The best way to do it would be to just not drink..don't go to events where there is drinking..problem solved.

I celebrate all holidays and events alcohol free.  I just decided enough was enough one day and that was it. I made excuses long enough.  I have been sober 6 yrs.
