its a vicious cycle. I start off with social anxiety so I drink until I feel totally comfortable basically diminishing it. After I heavily drink shortly there after come the withdrawals one of which is this general  anxiety. ****** ****** feeling especially when it's accompanied by others symptoms like overwhelming sadness. Sometimes I'll have a few drinks to make it go away or I'll try to tough it out. Usually lasts a couple days for me until the cycle completely starts over again.

Quite the combination eh. Scary as hell 2. You feel like you just can't control your own life or lifestyle any more.
I have been sober 2 whole days. Am I a ***** or what. PoorBF.1 year solid of daily
drinking and periodic drug use. Been going through this cycle for the last well 13 years now. I'm a 28 year old woman, head case. No rough go, it's a hard knocked life......
The panic attcks are scary as hell. The last one I had was over the Thanksgiving weekend and it scared the daylights out of me. Sweating, crying, racing heart felt like I was gonna have aheart attack, I was being provoked but that 's irrelevant. Damn man, beers, jelousy, kids sex a big mess, PTSD(post traumatic stress disorder)CAS
You are Not alone. It is scary. Ever been medicated for it....effexor? I found that lorazepam worked for me.

When you withdraw from  alcohol addiction it is to be expected to have anxiety attacks as well as insomnia. This is probably due to overproduction of adrenaline a s stress hormone that functions to increase blood sugar levels to the brain.

Most alcoholics are found to be hypoglycemic - a sugar handling problem - which can be overcome by going on a hypoglycemic diet.. This is similar to a diabetic diet.

the answer is YES!!!   I remember the first time I posted that same exact question on another website.  I was overwhelmed with the responses.  The two are definately connected.  Good news is that when you stop heavy drinking, the panic attacks do go away.  I have had to slow way down on my drinking due to KNOWING I will deal with panic attacks the next day.

Good luck and take care of yourself!  The panic attacks are not worth the alcohol buzz.

It's called self medicating yourself. I took this scarey road years ago.

I had terrible anxiety and had to take medication for it.  It kinda goes with territory.  You may want to get help for it.

the answer is yes...but give us some history...like how long...how much..any breaks in the action?...while going through withdrawals i had terrible anxiety..so bad i think it almost killed me quite a few times...and this went on for months...so while i was drinking i never really thought about it..like when it was drink time at that point did i have anxiety..after the drink or even durring the drink mentaly there were changes...alcohol is nasty..so bad for your brain as well as all kinds of other organs...your liver is what stores glucose for your brain and muscles..when it is impaired guess what..and over time it just gets worse..a synapses problem..along with weakness...anxiety ...fatigue...dizzyness..so if you have anxiety from drinking after you quit you can expect symptoms for quite some time while going through withdrawals..good luck...billy
