Hang in there... what's the doctor saying for day 1?  Is your liver functioning ok?  I'm in day 3 of no drinking and feel real good which scares me, because I'll want to drink later this afternoon.  Sorry to hear about your friend,  46 is so young nowadays.  How long was she sick?

my friend was given 6 mths 2 yrs ago, but of course its never going 2 happen 2 you,. I dont no if you have sherry out in the states, i was good while i lived there i only drank hard lemonade. but my friend drank sherry. . she'd have been as well drinking meths. I already no i have liver damage.. my sickness an my stomach cramps were worse today.. the doc says im doing well hes up'd my librium which is good for me. i think everyone who drinks can relate 2 waking up an not remembering.. or even urinated or sometimes worse.. thats when things are bad , and the only way is up...you may lose a few friends along the way. . but they werent really your friends if they dont want to know you

Nope, no sherry -- strictly beer for me,  and large volumes usually ... the 6.0 powerful rot gut stuff that pounds my head the next day.  Speaking of 6; it's six days of no booze!  * hands clapping*...  I feel too good, hope I don't blow it.  It's like coming out a very thick gloomy fog and the sad part is, I don't remember half the nights after guzzling all those beers, only going to bed early after dinner.  What a waste of life...:(

tigra  - hope your condition improves and what Charlie said.

I hope you choose to not end up like your friend!I see so much destruction from addiction on a daily basis.None of my drinking/drugging buddies supported me when i got sober. In fact my one buddy said he couldn't be around me sober for i was a painful reminder to him of what he was unwilling to do for himself.Recovery is worth the work girl!My 23 years has gone fast.11-22-07 will b 24 and i'm gonna make that one 2!Prayers 4 u!

yes i have a strong will dear...this is not self-inflicted...we raise the drink to our lips but total chaos as 2 what happens after! There are many theories as to why we're alcoholics and i believe biochemically we have no OFF switch! My designated driver would have three beers in the course of an evening and the third one would get warm.He HAD an off switch,i never did and i never will.tried to find it for years and had to retire from it.do you still have ur husband?have children?i worked with two men..one 68 and the other 72.After 40 years of drinking they got sober.....it can b done!We have an allergy to alcohol!Just can't put it in us..it is like a toxin!

tigra  --  It's true and confirmed you do have liver damage?

ibizan - have you tried Campral yourself?  How old and how long you've been sober?

I'm into day 8 clean, it's a strange but good feeling.  I feel lost in someways.

on 11-22-07 i'll hit 24 years sober.Back in 1983 the docs wouldn't prescribe any anti-anxiety or anti-depressant drugs for newly sober folks needing relief. They'd growl we ain't giving u nothing...u were on drugs!I'm happy to see this mindset change today.Antabuse been around for a long time but it doesn't seem to kill the craving for alcohol like the Campral does.I've never taken Campral. It is 3 years old.Day job is addictions counselor and my clients who take it,have a support system or group, attend counseling and change people, places and things appear to do very well on it!Yes, feeling lost is true..i felt like i had 2 left feet newly sober..but it is so much damn better!Don't miss the blackouts and awful disabling hangovers!

Oh, I though you were 24 years old, but I can see from your profile a little older…heh.  Me 53 and grew up in the same time period.  I mis-read your other post.  Yeah, I feel good already; it's just a different life style; something I'm not used to at all, since I've been drinking basically 30 years non-stop.  Yeah.."2 left feet newly sober"...but I don't want to take a step back at this point.  Now that would be depressing.

I have a ibizan-ism...the small amount of time u'll spend relapsing is a drop in the bucket compared to the large amount of time u'll kick ur booty for having done so!i've been told i don't look my age and i sure don't act it!II went thru rehab age 28.My addiction to valium and coke on top of the alcohol made me very ill and forced me to accept complete loss of control young.I have gratitude to my drug addiction for that!

T-  Good news...10 days for you, 9 for me..., and you're eating better?  Way cool!  Like I said -- I never drank vodka or haven't in 30 years, but maybe the beer isn't quite as bad, although sometimes I've drank 100 oz of 6.0 octane in one evening.  Is that enough?  I know what you mean about not needing anyone or anybody.  Hey, I like drinking in parking lots a lot... or did. Again keep us informed about the doctor.

ibizan  -- yeah, I've got the sugar thing going on right now and never like sweets before because I was always boozed up.

Better the ice cream or sugar than the booze...in time this pans out and moderates itself......been there and ate that!

Thanks for providing a few options:-)  I'm trying to watch my waistline, but it isn't too bad to begin with.  In fact I've lost weight without the beer calories (the last 9 days) and I wasn't fat to begin with.  Things are lookin up!

when i used to stop drinking i just had to eat eggs...later i was told that eggs have a protein that regenerate liver cell that aren't totaled...in other words the protein in eggs does not create new cells but is very good for old beat up cells...at least that is what i read on another forum..sounds like you folks are doing real good.......billy
