husband alcoholic?

I've looked at several posts and many pose similar situations to my own, but not quite exactly.  Like many people I've read I don't have much experience with alcohol and grew up in a home where no alcohol was consumed.  I have no basis to determine whether my husband is an alcoholic.

My husband is a successful, native american professional who is a kind, attentive and loving husband.  We have been married three years.  We go out to dinner often and he usually has 2 to 3 drinks. I have one. His third drink is usually a beer.  Oftentimes he doesn't eat very much, preferring the alcohol.

Sometimes (rarely) he will come home from a restaurant after consuming 2-3 drinks and not be quite as nice as usual, but still very civil and not abusive in any way.  He's never missed work, passed out or done anything that would indicate he was drunk.

Am I too sensitive because I don't have much experience with alcohol or do I have cause to be concerned.  A lot of his relatives are alcoholics - even his own daughter from a previous marriage is an alcoholic and drug addict.  What do I do?  I love my husband and he is a good man.

Thanks-
