Am I allergic to Omega-3 supplements?

I'm 19, I've recently started to take Omega-3 supplements. When i took them, after a while, it felt as if my chest and throat tightened a little, but it wasn't difficult to breathe at all. Also, when i woke up this morning it feels like something is crawling in my throat. Am I allergic? Should I keep taking these supplements?

Another possibility is that the gelcap is getting stuck in your esophagus and melting there, causing irritation.  Make sure you take it with plenty of water, and to be safe, eat something soft and bulky (that you aren't allergic to), perhaps a banana, to make sure it gets pushed down.

It is possible. Omega 3s are commonly gotten from fish. If you are allergic to fish, then a supplement could cause reactions. Some synthetic forms of Omega 3 can also cause reactions in the body because they aren't natural. Sometimes people who have sensitive systems can be affected by a synthetic supplement. Or it could just be a coincidence.
An easy way to see if the supplement is affecting you would be to stop taking it for a week. If the problems linger, the cause is unrelated. If they go away, the supplement is the likely culprit.
Good luck!

Hi, how long have you been taking the Omega-3 supplements, and what do you mean by "after a while"? Are you talking minutes, hours, days, weeks...?  Why are you taking Omega-3 supplements in the first place?

It's possible that you're just getting a spring cold and that's what the crawling in your throat feeling is, but if you're distressed, then I would think you could stop taking the supplements for a while and see if the symptoms go away.
