If I am allergic to a food will it also show up on a food intolerance test?

I have a fairly severe food allergy I am not able to identify.  My best guess is a spice, caffeine or artificial sweetener but I am really not sure.
I know that food intolerances are not allergies, but I am wondering if the opposite is true...food allergies are also intolerances and will show up on an intolerance test.
If so, I could narrow the possible food culprits, eliminate all the intolerances, and introduce them one at a time and see which triggers the allergy.
Any help is appreciated!
