For me, all melons are bad and cause the itchy throat and the sinuses to be irritated. I avoid them, because I'm scared I'll get a worse reaction from them than what I've had before. Bananas are bad, too. They affect more than the throat, they also cause an instant reaction in my gut.
Acidic fruits are all bad for me, because they cause blisters in my mouth immediately. I can't eat raw carrots or celery or fennel, only cooked. Dried fruits cause my tongue to tingle.
I definitely can't tolerate gluten products, especially wheat. And, aside from a small amount of milk in the occasional cup of coffee, I can't tolerate dairy, especially cheeses. Cheeses and gluten are the worst because I definitely have Tyramine Intolerance.
I think xexe is correct about people already having evironmental allergies, which I definitely do--more than other people--being prone to Oral Allergy Syndrome.
I have several other food intolerances/allergies. Some are worse than others. Some I seem to tolerate only cooked. I seem to tolerate a small amount of nuts, then I have to take a break from eating nuts. I can't eat peanuts. I can't even stand the smell of peanuts. I'm not as bad off as the little kids who can't so much as breathe peanut dust, who can have anaphylaxic shock from minute exposures, but I do feel unwell just from the smell of peanuts.
Foods like potatoes that have to be cooked anyway irritate my throat, even if they're the best organic ones around. I've learned, too, though, that potatoes aren't good for people anyway.
Hello, i beleive its normall. hah theres not much on this site to do withit... but i have the same.. its called oral allergy syndrome.. and basically i cant eat acidic fruits, or any raw fruits, veg nuts.. ect theres diffrent ones tho some cant eat wheat and milk.. but those seem to take the anoyence away, i can eat them if there cooked though!. i worry about my diet as i cant eat the good things that are good for you as much, just like if they are cooked are the goodness of them took out? these are my questions.. but other than that just make sure you eat cooked, and realise what kinda stuff you get a reaction too.
i even get it with bananahs and watermelons.. and i loved' watermelons :(..
they dont do allergy tests really as doctors.. ive asked. inles they do it at yours i dont know..
but the reaction i get is..
itchy top mouth and nasel something..
makes me make a noise with my mouth lol throat' coz it itches, then gets more irrritated..
sometimes if i eat beans i get heartburn too. or am sick..
i think stuff like that comes around. if ur bad with allergies anyway ive always gotten bad hayfever and all tht kinda stuff. :D so d.w about it its all good!! x
Many have what's called oral allergy syndrome or OAS ... they cannot eat the item raw but are ok with it cooked.
My daughter gets awful mouth swelling and tongue/glandular swelling from raw carrots but can eat them cooked!

The allergens in nuts are destroyed (for the most part) when they're roasted/cooked.
However, that doesn't mean that everone with a nut allergy will be able to tolerate a nut after it's been roasted/cooked.
