6 Yr. Old Son Swollen Glands 5 months

My 6 yr. old son has had swollen lymph nodes in his neck for 5 months. He has been tested twice for mono...negative both times. He had pneumonia last December and strep in February. He has a chronic sore throat. Another symptom is  that he will wake up in the middle of the night and vomit, then he goes back to sleep and is fine. He often complains that his stomach hurts and has diarrhea. Could this be allergy related? His doctor has suggested trying prednisone to see if it helps.

If he had a strep infection and still has a sore throat, then your child's physician should order an ASO titer and find out whether or not the antibiotics completely killed his previous strep infection. If not, he needs to get on a new antibiotic ASAP.
