ALLERGIC TO "CAINES"

FJR
Over the past 10 years I have had reactions to lidocaine (ended up being taken by PARPAMEDICS
to ER)  passed, out had shaking seizures, swollen tongue - could not talk for over 3 hours, could not breathe,
5 years ago - Carbociane, petite seizures, trouble breathing.

Today - Tetracaine, tingling tongue, somewhat swollen, cough difficulty swalling, and nearly
passed out.,  Dr then gave  Epinephrine - flush, really hot, and constant shaking for over one
hour.

I need to have surgery ASAP with a local - have an appointment next week with allergist

How do I find out what I can be given safely.

I have had similar reactions to lidocaine and other medications for over 15 years.  I used to work for a natural doctor who treated this.  When she passed away I found a very skilled immunologist who ran a lot of unusual blood tests and found that what regular MD's were telling me were "mental problems" and "anxiety" were in fact very real physical problems with my immune system.  Certain blood values were off-the-scale high.  Since being under the immuno's care, I've been MUCH better, although I still have to avoid a lot of things.  His name is Dr. Stoff in New York and he helped me through phone consultations.

Have you or anyone else on here (since this was back in 2008 and it is now 2012...  had any success in dealing with this.  Havn't seen any responses since the original inquiries)
I went to an allergist and they did small injections into the upper arm and I immediately had the flushing, rapid heart beat, high blood pressure, shaking ect... and this lasts for several hours and then I feel worn out for days.  the allergist said that they typically look for a reaction on the skin, which I only had a little redness.  Where can someone find help for this life threatening condition?  Please help!

Hi,

Talk to your allergy specialist and anesthesiologist in detail about your symptoms and the allergic reactions that you are having.

Most probably, a sensitivity testing would be done for the drugs that could possibly be used in your case and the one to which you are not allergic to would be used for the procedure.

What surgery do you need to have?

Let us know how you are doing and what do the doctors tell you.

Regards.
